Severe diarrhoea

Is there any reason to think this could be covid?
Sorry for too much info, but I have the worst diarrhoea I have ever experienced. To the point I am bleeding down there.
I've gone every 30 minutes since 6am this morning, bar the 2 hour nap I had this afternoon.
I've googled and some people say gastric issues could be a symptom, but I can't get tested with just these symptoms.
It's just odd as I've eaten the same as DH all week and he's fine.
Also on a side note, can I take Imodium or is it better to let it run its course?

Eat very gentle foods - plain toast, brown rice, bananas are all good, but just a little, drink plenty and if you have some take rehydration salts especially if you don't eat (one tbsp sugar and 1 tsp salt if not). It could be but more likely you ate something dodgy or caught noravirus

Sudocrem or similar if you’ve got it, and a final wipe with baby wipes as well if you can.
Plenty of fluids, and dry crackers usually stay down.

Maybe order a home test just incase

CaraDuneRedux · 14/11/2020 08:04

If no dioralyte, full sugar coke is quite effective.

Also if you feel strong enough, couple of inches of warm water in the bath and wash your bum every time - it's a faff specially if you're going every 15, 20 minutes, but it will really help with the pain and bleeding.

Have you eaten any uncooked eggs or runny eggs recently?
A number of supermarkets have been recalling eggs due to a salmonella risk, could it be that perhaps?

Apologies for The Sun link but it’s the first one that came up that included the batch numbers:

The last time I ate slightly uncooked eggs was last weekend. I have them runny but husband and kids have them well done.
I'll look up that link.

Hi OP. Will your GP be open today as it's Saturday? I think you should ring 111 if you're still going. Sorry you're feeling so unwell Flowers

NeilBuchananisBanksy · 14/11/2020 08:18

I'd see a GP and take a sample in for testing. My Dr told me never to take Imodium. Keep your fluids up as much as you can. Feel for you op, it's horrible.

indeedoody · 14/11/2020 08:24

Oh god, forgot it's Saturday. I'm a bit sleep deprived.

Hope you're feeling a bit better now, OP.

I mentioned about 3 people in my household having similar... two of us have fully recovered, but the one who's still suffering has now developed a fever, so taking her for a covid test shortly.

indeedoody · 14/11/2020 14:56

Felt a bit better first thing, but the bad belly came back at 10am. Finally taken an Imodium.

Covid test came back negative, so it seems there's some other diarrhea bug doing the rounds at the moment.

indeedoody · 15/11/2020 21:46

I think so.
I've been fine since I took an immodium. Was an awful 48 hours though.

My 14 year old dd has this and a temp (no other symptoms), poor thing has been on and off the loo all day. I had covid symptoms last week, was sure I had it but tested negative. Since dd became unwell this morning I have had a email from school saying several people have tested positive but not in DD’s bubble. I’m probably going to get her tested tomorrow, this won’t be easy as she has special needs and probably won’t allow me near her with a swab.

ShivD · 15/11/2020 22:01

My daughter recently had an appointment at a private health clinic and as well as the 3 main symptoms we are told to test for, we were asked if we’d had any diarrhoea or aching muscles in the call before we attended the hospital. So I assume that these are other top symptoms too.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 16/11/2020 10:07

@lovemusic33 I would order home tests for your daughter, my ds has additional needs and I can't imagine trying to test him at the test centre, he definitely wouldn't tolerate it, would be much easier at home.

We went to the test centre this morning, it wasn’t easy, I got a throat swab from her but there was no way she was letting me go too far up her nose. Fingers crossed it will be enough. She seems much brighter today and has just eaten some toast.

Covidwoes · 16/11/2020 17:24

I'm positive and have had diarrhoea. It can definitely be a symptom!

Torvean32 · 16/11/2020 19:28

Mext time take Immodium at the start of it. Get the capsules that melt in your mouth and work faster. You can then take one qfyer each loose stool.

Please dont flow the "you must let the infectionmpass through your body.

Try to stay hydrated. If your passing blood , mucous or get bad pain, call a Gp
