@TimWasMeanToMe

My brother said that some of the parks were shut in Madrid.

Yes parks for kids have been closed. But don’t worry parents can still go to the casino. In fact it was a question they asked the pm from Madrid why she kept the casinos opened but not the parks and she had no clue what to say. But restaurants are as well opened even in those areas with lockdown with 50% capacity. And they’ve Introduced the rule of 6 as well.

They’re not going to be put in full lockdown like a few months ago tho. They still can meet with 6 other people. Restaurants will still be opened

I noticed last night on my sky T V guide 11 . 00 am .Leaders speech BBC . Make of that what you will .

I think that’s Keir Starmers keynote speech at the virtual Party Conference.

At least that’s what I just heard on the radio....

Hardly anyone will comply with a national lockdown again

No blaming it on parents at the gate when it's in the schools is distraction.
Why wouldnt secondary kids pass it onto their parents and anyone else theyve seen.

Also bristol surrounding area. 3 cases i know of within the last 2w. 2 in a secondary school.

I guess these cases only matter if they go on to infect more than one adult.

I should say, cases are going to go up hugely in the next month or two unless we do something. Talking about schools is a slight distraction. We really do have to stop socialising, sadly.

Doesnt sound like you are bothered but be prepared for a rise.

According to the BBC article I read, it sounds as though they’re going to Stop households mixing and put a 10pm curfew on pubs. I assume that’ll be coming in from next week.

What about if they come up with a new three word slogan? Surely that would be enough.

@OvertheRainbow2U

I live in Bristol UK and have just heard 1st person to die of covid in our local hospital after no covid deaths for 3 months. I am a NHS nurse and would welcome lockdown - hopefully a short/sharp scenario - i.e 4 weeks strict lockdown will stop the spread and also lend more time for a vaccination to be given the blue light ?

I live in Bristol as well and don’t agree with you. We’ve got 11/100k cases/week. 1700 since March and 250 deaths. The hospital they built in uwe was dismantled without being used.

Why kill the economy of the city with a full lockdown for something that is barely affecting us ? Id accept some of the measures like pubs to close at 10 and so. But not fully closed not hairdressers and so.

Btw we had lockdown in March - June. Did it kill the spread ? Spain had an even tougher lockdown ... are you telling me this helped the Spanish ?

Does anyone think airports will be closed this week? My dd has been stuck in Buenos Aires since March. Got tickets with KLM to return via Amsterdam this week, arriving Friday. This is the third time she's bought tickets since march ....each time flights have been cancelled/Argentinian boyfriendcant go through immigration in madrid/Argentinians cant leave Argentina. Fingers crossed they get their flights this week!!!

Airports never closed. A friend of mine was in Indonesia in March and her way to go back to Spain was via London.

You're an NHS nurse and you reckon a vaccine is awaiting a blue light, seriously... Confused

@TheNewLook

The trouble with getting people to comply a second time is that hardly anyone caught it and hardly anyone knows anyone who caught it! Certainly that’s my feeling anecdotally. Nobody around me knows a single person who has had Covid, let alone died from it. This makes it feel very remote and abstract to a lot of people. It’s hard to see the point of running away from a virus that hasn’t touched most people’s lives anyway.

This is nonsense, I live in a city, I had Covid, my husband did, my colleague did, her mum died of it, my other colleagues uncle died of it, my husbands best friend had it so badly it hospitalised him, one of husbands customers died of it - it's not a bloody figment of people's imaginations and it's not a joke

Spain and France have much higher figures than us daily, they have not locked down again they know it is economically unworkable.

This lockdown will be nothing like the last one. We will Be able to go Out for non essential trips just with our own families for 2 weeks. Pubs and resteraunts likely to shut aswell for 2 weeks... Hardly the doom and gloom of the last lockdown.
