another week another argument with OH he’s determined to bring the kids to his mums tomorrow they’ve organised it behind my back he’s just said to me now I’m going to pop over my mums with the kids tomorrow.

I feel like I’m being controlling but then my mum hasn’t seen the kids either. What are others doing?

Yes. My Mum drives me to hospital at least once a week to give my husband a break from doing the trip every day.

She's only seeing me really so she's not too much risk to me. And I'm not really seeing anyone else so not much risk to her.

Well, a couple of weeks ago police, social care & my son’s therapist all advised me to go to my brother following a crisis. I didn’t because I couldn’t face putting him & his wife & children at risk, but it was touch & go. Now it isn’t (currently 🤞) crisis here, but they live four hours away & it isn’t possible within the guidelines. Seems a damn long time since November when I saw them last!

Yes, although keeping a decent distance. I think me and DH had it in February, it was brutal. Waiting on a Medichecks antibody test to arrive just for sheer nosiness really.

Like most viruses, we have to keep our distance from infected people and can't stay locked up and apart forever. Common sense and we may achieve herd immunity eventually. The lockdown was not about saving every life so it cannot go on indefinitely.

We haven't seen anyone outside our household since 15th March but plan to meet my friend and her kids next week. My children need socialisation and will likely visit my 68 year old aunt on her birthday in 10 days time as she has been on her own the whole time. So yes I am reaching the end of what I'm willing to do particularly if detrimental to my children or lonely older relative. If it was just me I could carry on with it but I personally think it's cruel to children and to people who are lonely. Not concerned and neither are they about meeting up.

I think lots of the examples where people have seen family are completely sensible decisions, there has always been allowance for helping vulnerable people, and some other situations are incredibly low risk. But if you've been seeing family all along just because it is nice or convenient to do so, it's not just about whether you are worried for yourselves, it's about actually getting the case numbers/R etc etc down. It was always expected that a certain proportion would not comply though, I think overall many more people have responded responsibly than the govt expected.

Yep, my mum came to mine today and did some cleaning for me.

Had an operation last week and not 100% yet, and technically cleaners are allowed in - and I’d rather my mum do it that a random who’s been to numerous other houses.

Haven’t seen my parents or my brother at all.
Dd hasn’t seen anyone apart from me and her dad for weeks. I’m heavily pregnant struggling with a 3 year old. My parents and dp’s parents are high risk so we won’t be seeing anyone for the foreseeable.

I haven't seen my sister since December. And I won't be seeing her until I think it's safe to do so. Because we love each other. And we believe the best way to show that love is to stay apart, for the time being

Yes. Mum and dad's GP said I ought. I have isolated pretty well
In an area of the country that has relatively few cases and he said the benefits outweighed the risks. Dad is v infirm and has dementia and mum is struggling. Better than having lots of carers in and out

I'm going to see my dad in a bit...in his house and I'm looking forward to it.

No. However, I am going to see my Dad on Friday. I haven't seen him since late February and he has Alzheimers which is deteriorating (he is also shielding). He lives too far from me for essential travel, however, I have a hospital appointment near to his home so I am going to swing by with my kids and have a "driveway" chat with him and my stepmum. I literally can't wait for this. I know I won't be able to hug or kiss either of them but my God just to see them will be lovely. While I would not do it myself, I think people are going to start to make their own risk assessments now and do what they see fit. Personally, I'd rather wait until it was a lot safer to be able to spend time inside with any family outside my own.

Yes, we've chatted on the drive if we've dropped something off for each other (bits of food, medicines etc) Had a family gathering outside on the drive when we let off a cannon to reveal the gender of our baby too. At a distance yet it gave us all a much needed boost.

Have 'seen' my DC - we share our shopping delivery slots with them and once the shopping has arrived they each come, separately, to collect it. We put the bags on our drive and they collect from there. We stand in the doorway and talk, so about 4m apart. One lives five minutes walk away and the other is about 10 minutes drive from us. Haven't seen anyone else, including my mum and MIL. Desperate to see dgc, but he's too young to understand we can't hug him, so best we don't see him at the moment.

No but no-one lives within 150 miles but if DS was nearer we would have seen him while social distancing in an open space.
