I've been pondering about where the eye-watering sum of public money currently being pumped into the furlough scheme is actually ending up. I found this aticle in the Guardian which I think is well worth reading - it describes how the furlough scheme is essentially shielding relatively well-off asset owners (landlords) and banks from being hit by their 'fair share' of the cost of the crisis, while still leaving low-income workers struggling. I don't know what the answer is, but I think the questions raised deserve more attention than they are getting in the national debate.
