Anyone started taking vitamins due to coronavirus ? What one's?

Just that really - anyone started taking vitamins to try give their immune system a boost?

I've seen some news articles saying other countries been treating it with vitamin c and d .

Just to add, I'm in no way that it's a cure and there's no evidence it works, for me I just feel like I have to do something 🤷‍♀️

Not specifically for coronavirus but I always take a multi vit, vit d and an antihistamine along with my prescription meds.

Dh takes a multi vit, vit d and cod liver oil.

I take D3 4000IU and effervescent Vit C 1000mg daily as well as a multivitamin but I do that anyway regardless of viruses so have been taking them for about 6 months now.

If I have had CV it's only been mild or I've not had it at all. Sadly no way to check.

My kids also take a daily multivitamin, again, a normal occurrence since they were tiny.

I'm pregnant so taking pregnancy vitamins anyway. However it is my understanding that it's a strong Immune system that's to blame. Because your body fights the virus but the cells are over come and taken over by the virus. I could be wrong though as it's too new to know lots about but that what I've seen on the news and various articles.

Yes crazy i agree 100%. I 'm follow an anti inflammatory way of eating and have got through a 'mild' illness that does seem to have had some of the symptoms of COVID but who knows as there's no testing.

But idolove If your body doesn't fight the virus then you're a gonner aren't you?

But idolove If your body doesn't fight the virus then you're a gonner aren't you?

Not necessarily. As idolove said, it's actually the body's immune response that causes the illness we feel, makes us ill and ultimately kills us.

But If your body doesn't fight the virus then you're a gonner aren't you?

Correct. This is why people whose immune systems cannot ‘fight’, such as those living with blood cancer, are on the shield list.

Haven’t started taking vitamins for this but I’ve gotten a lot better at actually taking the ones I usually have.

A multi-vitamin, a multi-mineral and calcium/magnesium plus Vitamins A, D3/K2, C and Quercetin.

I already take a wide range of vits and minerals for other health reasons. I can't take vitamin C as it converts in my body to oxalate and that gives me some nasty reactions.

Multi-vitamin, folate, zinc/vitamin c, coenzyme Q10, garlic and apple cider vinegar gummies. I take all those anyway with the exception of the garlic which I added recently to boost my immune system.

I take a multivitamin every day anyway and also iron and magnesium.

I also have Sambucol but told my DH to stop taking it "just in case" because it's unavailable to buy at the moment (from my usual source) and we may need it if one of us actually gets ill.

Totally agree with the poster above talking about inflammation, too. It definitely seems to be a major factor in a lot of illnesses/conditions. However, it easier said than done to reduce sugar or processed grains :(

Thanks for the thread I didn’t know about the Vit D link, that makes a lot of sense.

Whispers.....vitamins won't save you

It does depend on the TYPE of vitamin thpugh Luna If it's the vitamin C thats in a whole fresh organic lemon (including the peel and pith) that you have every day, blended with a fresh garlic clove, and organic Manuka honey. That does definitely get rid of bacterial infections (I've done it) and it lessened the effect of a 'possible' covid virus that I've got over Grin.

🙄 obviously vitamins won’t ‘save’ anyone.

No, but recent research has shown that being low in vitamin D results in a more severe case of covid-19.

I really hope that one thing that comes out
of this is people taking more responsibility for
their health.

Not just about vitamins. But eating generally home cooked and fresh food, minimising sugar and alcohol and exercising. You just have to do it.

Perhaps covid will be seen as a killer for the medicated? Many of the risk factors relate to conditions that are medicated rather than prevented or treated by looking at the cause.

Anyway - I have taken the following for
Years

  • 5,000 iu D but only in winter; sun in summer
  • magnesium
  • reasonable multi containing b vits and zinc
  • omega 3 supplement
  • sometimes - iron (if not had much red meat), probiotics

Sorry. Hard to tell without reference/quote. I hadn't spotted their post as on the phone.

My point applies to @LunaLula83 then.

Yup

Firstly underlying health conditions - overweight, high blood pressure (tho not on meds - see below), and autoimmune condition of psoriasis.

So, following keto diet, no carbs/sugar etc - reduces inflammation, lowers blood pressure and insulin levels

Vitamins - I've taken 1 daily for the last couple years:-
High D3 + K2
High C
An excellent multi-vitamin
Magnesium taurate
Calcium
Garlic
Glucosamine
Black seed oil

Twice daily I drink hibiscus tea (4L made each fortnight and decanted into bottles and stored in fridge - proven in lowering my blood pressure, reduce palpitations - also menopausal!)

When I'm feeling chesty - I suffer greatly with sinus/catarrah issues, I drink daily white horehound tea which is an expectorant and lung/bronchi healer (taste is definitely something to be acquired!!)

I also do the tea-tree steaming as and when necessary.
