I have sat up to midnight for the last seven nights trying to get a slot for my elderly aunt and uncle.

I just got so excited that I managed to get a slot on 27 April and the site came up with a little oops something went wrong, kicked me out and now all slots are gone.

Why is it so bloody hard. I could actually have cried. I was so excited that I finally had some good news for them.

I've just had a delivery of one of the Morrisons boxes. I'm pretty impressed with the stuff in it and the efficiency of the service. All usable and sensible stuff without any hassle.

If I was you OP I'd order a Morrisons box for them. Then you'll know they've got enough stuff in whilst you sort a Tesco delivery for a later date. Take some of the pressure off yourself. I'm sure they'll use the food if it arrives on their doorstep even if it's not from their preferred supplier.

I had that happen but eventually found that I had got a slot. I actually went on to get a click and collect but they seemed to have all gone whereas there was the full range of delivery slots available. I will now be trying tonight to get a click and collect so I can release the delivery one.

Have you asked local taxi companies if they will pick up from Tesco as I think click and collect shopping has a lot more availability.

I tried to do a click and collect and there was nothing there and then I looked a couple of hours later and there were at least 10 spaces!

The issue im having is that with two young children 1 and 2 years of age, they both need different formula milk and diapers but when i go to the supermarket to buy these things for both of them, staff tell me i can get two of each only one of each. Now my son will go through that one box in less than one week. The worst place is Asda, i was even accussed of being at the store the day before which was not true.

My mum got an email from Waitrose offering her slots as a vunerable person.
She had a mini panic when she was cancelled last week.
She is ok ATM as her milkman started delivering fruit and veg boxes,a local restaurant is making and delivering meals(which are apparently very good so she will carry on ordering those).
It's worrying as we live so far away.
The registering as vunerable person on line seemed to work though as my mum never received a letter/text.

far Tesco are the only supermarket who have offered me priority slots as a shielded person

I've been a loyal tesco delivery customer for the past however many years; 10 I think, and despite being on the vulnerable list, it's Sainsbury who emailed me offering slots. Tesco haven't gotten a special list, have they? They seem to just be appealing to peoples' generosity and goodwill.

I know times are hard but should it be ;

I hate, hate, hate Tesco, the company generally as there is no object (other than implied) for the spurious apostrophe?

As you would never write I hate, hate , hate tomatoe's.

Op just make sure you check the order the day online the day before it's due. I did a Tesco online shop for my parents a week in advance and I checked the day before and loads of it was out of stock. Thankfully I was able to replace them with alternatives and they delivered a full shop.

I'm shocked at the amount of people who are too scared to go shopping but really are capable of it.

I'm friggen terrified too, but I've no choice. And I do agree with that

I couldn't agree more! My sister is a front line nurse so I'm shielding our dad who's on the gov shielded list and a friend whose daughter is. I'm shopping for 9 adults so making more trips out than is recommend. The shielded can't get slots for love nor money. I'd rather continue the trips myself than them use volunteer groups though as I'm in control of safety precautions at least.

My sister has guilted a few of her friends into relinquishing slots where they are fit and able to shop for themselves but preferred delivery.

@Hadenoughofitall441 are there any Facebook groups where your dad lives who are helping get food to people? Ours is great sorting & delivering to people who can't get out.

I've seen a few local taxi companies delivering bread & milk too.

I have given up for my mum, rural Somerset.
She is using local butcher/baker and Spar shop who are delivering. I sent her 18 Loo rolls from an office supplier and wine from drinksupermarket.
But I had also decided that if all else failed I would just fill a box and send it Via dhl. They pick up from your house and deliver it the next day.

Same happened to me - I got a slot on the website at midnight but it took a few minutes to show up in “my orders” - system is overloaded but getting there, I think.

Having the same problem for my parents, but trying all the supermarkets, am taking a couple of days break as I have a MH issue and was getting upset being awake and stressing at midnight (I wake early in the mornings) and checking many times a day.

In my part of Melbourne you can only get deliveries if you are in the vulnerable category.

I'm shocked at the amount of people who are too scared to go shopping but really are capable of it.

I'm friggen terrified too, but I've no choice. And I do agree with that.

Well good luck. Hundreds of extremely vulnerable people are going without food right now ando cannot get slots anywhere.

Great news. The driver of our delivery said they were employ more people and it should be better by next week. We are also rural and were self isolating so we were delighted to get a slot as we had no milk, no bread, no cereal and the remains of a pepper and three small tomatoes and six large onions( curtesy of the pub) and that was it. We had some meat and fish in the freezer and dozens of eggs because we have lots of locals selling eggs and then someone gave us a whole tray. Left it inside the gate.So I baked quite a lot.

Hope you are OK now.Smile

I’ve been trying to get a slot for FILwho lives 135 miles away. Every supermarket in his area and there are about 7 have no slots, if you wait in a queue you know there will be no slots. He’s very vulnerable and running out of food. It’s absolutley crazy, just rest assured it’s not just Tesco.
