Parkdean resorts refusing to shut their 67 parks across the UK. All open for business as usual including pools, restaurants, bars, arcades, the lot. No consideration for the local healthboards where these parks are based, no consideration for the elderly / vulnerable permanent residents that live in the areas these parks are based. No refunds being offered as they are 'open for business' so customers who aren't willing to lose their money are travelling regardless of government advice and blatant disregard for their customers and staffs health! Haven, Center Parcs, Pontins, Butlins even small independent businesses are closing but this large corporation REFUSES.

Parkdean still refusing to shut even after the announcement. Facilities shut but holidaymakers still welcome. Still no consideration for staff or locals.

Christ, what's the point.

stuck in the same situation. Due to go in the next month and have been offered the chance to rebook but I can't do that as we are going as part of a large group and no one can agree on a suitable date. I hope they have to close soon.

This may out me but my dd works at a parkdean resort and is currently self isolating due to a cough. She's feeling ok now and should be back to work at the beginning of next week.
I am increasingly furious that the park - all the fucking parks - remain fucking open. Shes reluctant to resign as would want/need to go back if it reopens.
But my experience of them as employers is below poor anyway.

It is not a surprise that Boris Johnson - serial shagger and father to an unknown number- should be in favour of personal liberty.

However, in the current circumstances I think there are situations where personal liberty comes second to our shared responsibility as a society.

I do hope Boris can see past his own philosophy and take the appropriate actions to close down pubs, clubs, cafes, restaurants, hotels and holiday parks.

It is time we closed our borders too.

@lowwtide yes it's closed to the general public but open for owners to go to their caravans.

Disgusting. They have a number of sites on the Isle of Wight....one strained small hospital there, poor GP provision. If anyone reads this as a punter, please cancel! Think of the huge nursing home population over there!

Lots of people in our local cafes, it went quiet on Tuesday but people are drifting back. Make these places shut down! What the hell are the government doing? Time and time again too many people prove they cannot be trusted with their own health but this is compromising the health of thousands of others as well as the entire economy and the government want people to make their own decisions...why?

The shops are so stripped that people are wandering the high street going in and out of every shop. There is no isolation!

I dont see how you can effectively deep clean a cabin unless you have access to fumigation gear

we have 4 little units

we simply cannot do it safely

we are taking the hit. we have no choice. We are just hoping that some kind of support will be offered to us.

We are going to face the debt when we have to, resurrect our PolyTunnel and get growing instead

What is there to be thankful for about that.

I don't want someone else's 'personal liberty' to mean they can do as they like and put other people in danger.

I don't want my loved ones to die, nor indeed do I want to die, because someone who made good use of their personal liberty coughs on one of us and passes on this virus when we slip out to the supermarket for vital necessities like food.

Why does someone else's personal liberty override other people's right to not be put at risk of catching this thing.

It is not unlawful to stay open. Boris Johnson was very clear yesterday - thankfully - about being a strong proponent of personal liberty.

Yes, the personal liberty to put the lives of others in peril.

Only a complete bounder would support Boris Johnson here.

Forest Holidays are taking the same approach and saying that people can isolate in their cabins so it's all perfectly safe. Their facebook is also full of disgruntled customers and they are just copy and pasting the same reply to them all. It's so disappointing.

Our local posh hotel has just closed everything, room bookings cancelled and dining room and bar closed. If a relatively small business can do it, so can the big chains.

A lot of businesses, eg pubs/bars/cafes, would be very pleased to be ordered to shut as then they may have a chance of getting insurance paying out. By the government just advising their customers to stay away they are stuck.

Local businesses do need support. But that can take many forms, not just blindly rushing in and spreading the disease.

My local cinema has closed it's doors for now, and local people like me have bought memberships and vouchers for the future to help keep them going (it's a small family run place).

It's time to get creative.
