I know its a pain waiting each month. I am due my period this friday and desperately hoping to be pregnant. I start thinking that I have all the sypmtoms of being pregnant but when my period comes its hearbreaking. Lets hope the flush worked. I have also started taking ovulex just in case I didnt ovulate. After taking it for a month a did a clearblue ovulation test and bingo. Its all counting on this friday. Good luck to everyone.

HI I HAD AN HSG DONE ON THE 8TH AUGUST 2007. AND I WAS SCARED. MY HUSBAND COULDN'T EVEN GO IN WITH ME. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONCIEVE FOR TWO YEARS THAT IS WHY I DID IT. SO ANYWAY, THE DAY B4 THE EXAM I HASE TO TAKE THESE NASTY TABLE AND THEN AN HOUR TO THE EXAM I HAD TO TAKE ANOTHER ONE. WHEN I WENT IN THE ROOM I WAS SCARED AND FELT LIKE I WANTED TO LEAVE BEACUSE I THOUGHT OF THE PAIN OTHER PEOPLE SAY U FELT. BUT IT WASN'T HALF BAD. I WENT IN LESS THEN TWO MINUTES. THE ONLY THING IS THAT AFTER U WILL FEEL BURNING AND U WILL BE A LITTLE BRUSIED UP. I HAD SEX THE SAME NIGHT. BUT MY HUSBAND DIDN'T COME IN ME. TWO DAYS AFTER HE START COMING IN ME. BUT I WISH I COULD GET PREGNANT THIS MONTH AND DON'T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL NEXT MONTH, I AM SO DAM ANXIOUS AND SO IS HE. THE HSG RESULTS WAS OK, BOTH SIDES SPILLED. SO I AM WAITING NOW TO DO A VAGINAL ULTRASOUND.

I have just had one last week. It wasn't too bad, but i done my research before I went and saw the monitor next to me, obviously thinking the worst. I have been told that the dye can thrust out any minor blockages. I'm hoping it happens to me. I had a child 4 years ago after 3 months of trying, so expected the same 2nd time round. We have been trying now for just on 2 years.

I was supposed to have one this month but they could not fit me in. I was relieved but now I am reading that if the dye gets through it can have a positive effect on conception, I am feeling much more up for it, so thanks!

IMO medical procedures are never as bad as you think they are going to be.

Good luck with yours.

Where they able to resolve the uterine adhesions MARTIANSBISHOP?

I had one last month. I took a couple of painkillers beforehand, prepared for bad period type cramping and actually it wasn't so bad. I didn't particularly like laying under the x-ray machine, but it was a small price to pay to get some answers. For a couple of days after I had some light spotting and light cramping, but nothing that required a hot water bottle.

It is an individual thing, and it's hard to say how it will be for you. They should be able to give you your results at the time, although you will have a follow-up with your Consultant at another time.

Unfortunately mine showed my tube was blocked (lost the other one to ectopic pregnancy), but it gave us answers and explained why we weren't having any luck month in month out. Having seen numerous ladies have an HSG, it's not very often at all that the result is bad.

Anecdotally, if the HSG works, so the dye flows through the tube(s), in the 3 months that follow there is a greater chance of conceiving.

Good luck x

I had one and it was fine - just like Tempis but without the pain. Good luck

I had one and it was very painful, but that was because I had uterine adhesions so bad they had blocked off the cerfix. So they couldn't get the dye in....it was awful

Yes I have had one last year.

It is not as bad as it sounds .

It takes about 5-10 minutes, the Dr injects dye into your uterus which flows into your fallopian tubes. This enables the DR to see if there is any blockages or kinks in your tubes.

You have to position your self on the couch in the xray room, like you were preparing to have a smear taken (the DR and assistants are lovely and make you feel relaxed and comfortable). They will always carry out a pregnancy test before they carry out the HSG just to make sure you are not pregnant (you provide a urine sample when you arrive).

A speculum is inserted into your vagina (like you are having a smear) and the DR inserted the littles injection tube (you can't feel it)and using an xray machine he makes sure it is in the right place, then he injects dye which goes into the tube, flows into your vagina and into your fallopian tube. He then takes a series of xrays, while this is happeninf

When the dye is going in......it does hurt, like bad period pain.....but only lasts for split seconds as he injects the dye in. I advise you to take some pain killers such as Brufen about 1 hour before the test, so that you have some pain relief on board.

Anr finally just to say, it is over very quickly, a bit of period pain for a few seconds is well worth finding out if things are ok.

Oh! most important... they do say that when you have this test done it kind of flushes out your tubes and clears them out! (I got pregnant 2 months after my test!!!)

GOOD LUCK!
