Horrifically painful and weird ovulation this month

I'm definitely ovulating, the pain started on Monday, a slight twinge in my left ovary area. I had pain in my right ovary last month and had a positive opk, so must be the left's turn this month!

Now fast forward to today, Saturday. All week the pain has been getting steadily worse, now urinating and pooing causes lots of pain in the lower left side - a mix of sharp and dull. I can't explain it. It feels like there's something in there. I have pains down my thighs too. Keep passing gas, that also hurts.
I have EWCM and I'm weeing quite a lot.

Taken two ibuprofen and using a hot water bottle.

Surely ovulation pains shouldn't continue for 5 days?!

I actually think it was a very painful ovulation. This morning I woke up and the pain was gone. I have lots of EWCM today.
Is this a good time to baby dance?!

I have fibroids too (yes unfortunately I am quite the amateur expert!).

Fibroids can be difficult because they can stop an embryo from implanting properly (depending on its position) and there is a potential risk of increased bleeding or miscarriage in some cases.

Not all ovarian cysts cause problems conceiving but some can interfere with the process I think. (I am not a hcp - you need to talk to your doctor about this!) I think they can interfere with hormones by which a pregnancy test is determined and inhibit release of egg and implantation in some cases.

Unfortunately I have had probs with these most of my fertile life (in addition to wierdly positioned and funny shaped uterus) which meant we could only have one child as opposed to the three we wanted. Very blessed to have carried one through to full term though as it was a bit touch and go at times!

BUT please please try not to worry - lots and lots of small ovarian cysts resolve themselves spontaneously - many are discovered in early pregnancy scans and cause no problem whatsoever - so try not to be anxious until you know what you are dealing with. Flowers

@bigfatbumfreak why was it difficult if you don't mind me asking?

I don’t know, but i would want to know whats going on first. Ive heard of people being pregnant with cysts, but its not easy.

I had a fibroid, that was difficult with pregnancy.

You're only 5 months into ttc, it's really not too long. When I had my scan on the cysts she could also see the place the egg had come out during ovulation, nothing is an exact science when ttc unfortunately, women's bodies have all sorts of things going on.

Thanks everyone.

Do people think it's unlikely I'll conceive this month then?

Yes to pain on urinating and poo. Don’t let them fob you off with urine infection, they did that to me.

Sorry to worry you. I am sure it's nothing serious, but a doctor would have better advice than that! Hope you feel better.

I guess my chances of conceiving this month are low then Sad I was hoping this would be my month.

Thanks all.

I'll book an appointment on Monday at the GP if it's still painful.
I doubt it's an ectopic, because I wasn't pregnant last month and am only just ovulating this month. So it's quite unlikely.
I'm leaning towards a cyst or a UTI or my IBS flaring up. It's very debilitating, you're right Sad

And yes, ovarian cyst can affect bowels and bladder.

I have a painful ovarian cyst and pp is correct. If the head of the cyst becomes heavy (if filled with fluid for example) the stalk can twist which is an emergency. I know you don't like doctors (and I am a wimp about all things medical) but all you need initially is an ultrasound to check it out. And might be worth checking that your ovaries are ok if you are trying to conceive. Hope the pain diminishes soon anyway op, as I know it can be v debilitating.Flowers

See the doc - it is the only way. There are many things it could be, some serious (if you have been TTC), some not - but how else will you know?

@bigfatbumfreak Last period was normal, heavy like usual with clots and painful, so I very much doubt it's an ectopic.

@bigfatbumfreak I think it could be a cyst...I've been TTC for 5 months with no luck. Will this hinder my chances even more?

Did you have pain with urination and when having a poo? (Sorry if tmi)

What was your last period like? Was it normal? Could you be pregnant? You might want to test to rule out ectopic.

Sounds like a cyst, i was in pain for over two months. I was scanned then lut on a three month wait and see, it went by itself.

However, if you are in severe pain, or pain gets very bad quickly go to A&E, as cysts can torsion, its an emergency. But you do need a scan.

@Mamamagellanic I think I may have endometriosis. This pain has been going on since Monday though, so day 5 today, is that too long for ovulation to go on for?

I have this every month. I have endometriosis Sad ovulation is more painful than my period sometimes.

It may be a one off so don’t worry. I’d see a GP though. If it is ovulation, as soon as it’s over (the crescendo is usually an hour of severe throbbing, inability to sit upright, pain) the pain will dissipate and you’ll feel like you’ve been beaten up.

Is there any chance that you're pregnant?

SpongeCake23 · 28/10/2017 21:02

I'm definitely ovulating as I have lots of EWCM, so surely it's related somehow?

I must admit, I'm getting rather worried now, does it sound like a UTI?
I've got big issues with health anxiety too so it's making me feel quite anxious.
