Clear blue false positive tests, please be aware and don't use them!

As it says really, I have had a lot of heartache this week, on Saturday (way too early) I tested with a clear blue as I felt sick and was very tired, it came up with a clear line in the 2 minute time frame, yay I thought I was pregnant. The line faded to a dark skinny line at the left edge of the test line.
So I took a first response to be sure, and it was bfn. Refusing to believe it, I took a superdrug test, an eBay cheapie and a wondfo cheapie, all absolutely negative not a hint of a line.
Forward to Monday. I thought that maybe if the clear blue line was real, something should be showing on another test by now, so I took another clear blue, and yet again, a line came up, even clearer this time, there is a pic posted on the may bus drop outs thread if anyone is interested. The line was still skinny but as dark as the control line, and you could see it accross the room. So again, I tested with a first response, Again, bfn, also bfn superdrug, bfn cheapie and bfn wondfo.
That evening, I did another clear blue, from a different box, it was total bfn.
Gutted and confused, I tested again tuesday morning, bfp again with clear blue, bfn with everything else (didn't bother with first response and superdrug too bloody expensive to keep wasting!)
I have now run out of clear blue and I won't be buying any more. These tests have been faulty more than 50% of the tests I have used this month, and they are the most expensive test on the shelf! and for the record I am def. Not pregnant, my period is due tomorrow and I have every sign that it is on it's way in full force.
Ladies, please beware of a thin blue line which is to the left edge of the test line on clear blue tests. It's not real. If you want to know if you are pregnant, go buy a first response, superdrug or any other supermarket brand. If you want to see a meaningless line regardless of whether you are pregnant or not, please buy clear blue.

Thanks, I know this is a v old thread, this is a big help! Especially as mine- looking at it again- is a little to the left. Had an absolutely horrific couple of days involving a private and unnecessary scan (where the clinician kept referring to ‘baby’) and missed a friend’s funeral as I mistakenly thought I was miscarrying. Had no idea what was happening to me until a nurse from the hospital the clinic referred me to rang and asked if I had used Clear blue. She said never ever Ever use Clear blue, the one from the Pound Shop is better, it’s set detect 10 (not sure of the exact measurement) of hcg instead of 25 and is notorious for false positives. Despite what it says online about being ‘incredibly rare’ 🤯Thank God for mumsnet

Same thing happened to me, except I went back to Boots and got my money back :D

Clearblue are really shit tests.

I've done a LOT of tests over the years and the only CB have ever given me false hope.

You must have spent so much money! Please contact them and get your money back. They will probably need the batch numbers too so they can identify the faulty ones.

Have you all reported this to clearblue? If there is a faulty batch or whatever they could withdraw them. It's hardly in their best interests to have a load of pissed off ttc-ers. At least you should get your money back.

I have read that blue lines are a lot less reliable than pink lines generally.

So sorry you had this experience and had your hopes dashed but FX for a proper BFP soon!

Just wanted to say that this happened to me too a few months ago with 2 Clearblue tests - the second one I took the day after the first even looked like a fatter and darker line. Its is absolutely outrageous that a product that is so clearly not fit for purpose is on sale (and so expensive!). These lines are blue (not evaps in the sense we are used to) and come up well within the time limit.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experiences this week Roger. It must be devastating to have your hopes dashed like that and emotions aside it's caused you a lot of wasted £. I always use first response personally but I assumed that clear blue was one of the most reliable brands on the market. I will boycott them in future. Fx for happier news next cycle.
