hi
After years of trying for a baby, I finally fell pregnant on the 4th ivf attempt with twins, unfortunately I lost one at 9 wks. :(

My pregnancy was not very straight forward as I bled for 5 weeks after the miscarriage, then intermittently bled for the remaining time of my short pregnancy. My DS was born at 26+5 weighing 2lb 5oz, he spent 3 months in hospital and nearly lost time on a number of occasions.... Needless to say it was a horrific time but somehow got through it... My son is now 2 this year and is absolutely adorable and the best thing that has ever happened to me and my husband, the light of our lives... As time goes by the memories of the hard times fade and now we are thinking of going through another round of ivf as would love him to have a sibling and we would love to be parents again - has anyone been through similar as would love to hear if anyone was brave enough to try to have another baby after such an horrific time... Should we be grateful with our son as if it happened again it would not be fair on him, us or our families but there again another child would be magical......

Our consultant said he cannot pinpoint why this happened and really cannot say if it would happen again... Scared obviously

Good look for trying again - sessions with their specialist counsellor and only one embryo sounds like a plan xx

Thanks for responding both.

Yes that is a good idea, will contact the clinic and book an appt, the hospital consultant did actually mention just putting back one embryo as a precaution so we would do that.

Good luck with your ivf journey I know how hard it can be, contact me if you wish to spk about it xx

Hi - sorry not a similar story here (on IVF journey ourselves) - but would it help you to speak to the counsellor at the IVF clinic, as am sure this is an area they specialise in (and know at our clinic it is free and offered etc). Also there is a real push right now to only put back one embryo in ivf to prevent twins etc and to help with pregnancies, so if you did go through ivf again would you consider only replacing one embryo at a time to help reassure you?

All the best whatever you do x

No experience but didn't want your post to go unanswered, fwiw I would say go for it, at least you know what the worst case scenerio is and you got through it :)
