Its second christmas day for us, my Grandad comes over (has since i was little) and we do presents, beef roast, board games and then a buffet tea.

Its a lovely chilled out day which normally sees the older adults (my DM and my Grandad) fall asleep.

There's a local fell race on Boxing Day that we always do as a family. It's good fun as people often wear Christmas hats. I never feel like doing it when I wake up as I am so full and tired but am always really glad afterwards.

I used to enjoy Boxing Day as a relaxed day but it’s son 1’s birthday so we feel we need to host endless relatives coming to see him on his birthday. They come throughout the day from early on so we don’t get a lie in and I feel I have to be up, dressed, cooking, have a nice birthday cake ready and feeling sociable which is the last thing we really want to do.
This year I think we are going to go out so won’t be hosting any visitors. If we don’t go out they will come. Last year my bloody stepmam showed up with three of her relatives from Canada who i’d never met before. Exactly who I want to see on Boxing Day.

I’m hoping a bowling alley or something will be open and we can eat out.

Dh takes the ds's to a football match so I relax with dd's. We enjoy our gifts or just laze around watching TV and eating nice food and of course we walk the dog. I like Boxing Day more than Christmas Day tbh.

We go sea swimming then to the ILs for an afternoon/evening of cold meat, pickles, cheese, chocolate etc, open fire, gifts, games and a long walk later on. Love boxing day.

Yes that house endehors

No public pool in the village, nearest would be around 9 miles away so not that local for a quick dip before breakfast - although I think one of the neighbours might have one but it's outdoors so probably not in use on Boxing Day.

The house Crumbs posted as hers doesn't have a pool.

The house photographed from behind an obliging bush? Shock There could be a pool in local the leisure centre to be fair, I think the pool here is open on Boxing Day no bloody idea actually

Lovely chilled day, no rush for anything, no cooking to speak of except perhaps jacket pots to go with leftover turkey and ham - with salad and pickled onions. I might just about make some root veg soup (spuds, carrots, parsnips, swede, onions, simmered in chunks with stock till soft, stick blended in pan, grated cheese on top) for the evening, but that's it.

Watching any Christmas TV we didn't get around to watching before (assuming remembered to record anything good), eating chocolates and mince pies, etc., that we were too full for on the day.
And definitely a good walk! (So that we feel justified in slobbing afterwards.)
My mother always did a 2nd roast on Boxing Day - roast pork. V nice too, but why on earth she didn't just want to chill and eat leftovers I will never understand.

We do Christmas all over again with dh's family, except unlike my family who all Just quietly get drunk and eat too much like normal people do, dh's family like to go for a massive meal, bowling, do a quiz, have a nerf gun battle, and generally hype up the dc who have already had 2 days of madness. It's always a long day where I'd much prefer to be at home eating chocolate in my pj's

What's the sub-thread with crumbs all about then?

I love Boxing Day. The rule here is eat what you want (within reason), wear what you want, do what you want (within reason).
We have one DS who is 5. This translates to- DS and I stay in PJs, DH prefers to get dressed. DS has pizza, sausages and chocolate. DH and I have cheese and then bubble and squeak for tea.
We watch lots of films, DS plays with his new toys and I have a long soak in the bath.

Beach usually for a long walk - sometimes go to west bay and watch the mad swimmers if it is on.
Food wise it is a buffet - the only cooking is heating stuff. A relaxing and chilled day basically.

Argue over who’s walking the dog to go and get the papers.

Turkey and pickle it smoked salmon sandwiches, front doors left unlocked for anyone who wants to come over and watch the Boxing Day football.

Will flash up the Sauna (Wink) in the afternoon and sweat out all the turkey and booze.

Then watch shit tv. I love Boxing Day.

Considering Crumbs won't say the 't word' (and that's toilet not twat for us plebs), I am awfully surprised that she has something as vulgar as a hot tub ende.

Also, do you have your own swimming pool, Crumbs? Dying to know.

'Tis a nice country walk for us on Boxing Day. A day to relax

A hot tub? Isn't that a bit common.

The height of vulgarity
