Waitrose delivery isn't coming!

I got a voice message from Waitrose today asking if they could come tomorrow morning instead of tonight.

I was initially quite pleased until they said they couldn't give me a time slot and it could be any time tomorrow morning. I really can't stay in all morning, I've got stuff to do.

They said there had been a systems failure and they were 3 hours behind, as my delivery was booked between 6-8pm that could mean them not arriving until after 11pm and I really don't want that.

The teenagers will be at home all morning but they can't sign for the alcohol!
It's all going wrong, DH failed to get the goose this morning, he couldn't find the farm! He's going to try again after work. Xmas Sad

Ours was supposed to come between 2-4pm on Sunday. They phoned me at 3.30pm to say it wouldn't be, and they had no idea when they would be able to deliver. She said I could collect it if I could get in before 5pm but I do t drive. Thankfully my DH had Monday off so we collected it Mon morning. The other massively annoying thing is its a new store and the postcode online is completely wrong so we got very lost. Don't think I'll use Waitrose online again.

Xmas Sad SauvignonBlanche I sympathise. As ifvthere isnt enough to worry about at this time of year.
Unfortunately your post reminded me of that episode of The Good Life when Margot's Christmas wasn't delivered by Fortnums. Or Harrods.
I really hope it arrives safely Flowers

I can't remember if it was Fortnums or Harrods but Margot was most unhappy, wasn't she? It was her entire Christmas. Xmas Smile

That episode was on Gold over the weekend.

Mine came 10 minutes before the start of the slot. They have had problems with their online ordering and I was phoned this morning as my card had been rejected (stored card on their system). I gave the number again and it went through.
Best substitution = 400 grams of walnuts for 150 grams ordered and 2 kg Charlotte potatoes for 650 gems ordered.

evans they were in stock as I called to complain and miraculously the 15 items were delivered an hour ago. They made a mistake plain and simple.
Which they have now fixed so that's fine.
And I wouldn't have expected basic groceries like milk, grapes and cheddar to be oos anyway, would you?

Our delivery on Saturday was 4 hours late. But the top-up delivery today was bang on time. Delivery driver didn't bother stopping for a signature though, he was that rushed.

On the plus side, I got a refund of £35 which I was a bit Xmas Confused about. I sent about £15 stuff back with them. Today included a 'gift' box of chocolates

Anyone else had random refunds or chocolates?

Sounds like we've been lucky - ours came on time yesterday, I had no problem editing it all on Saturday, it wasn't late and we just had one or two (sensible subs). It basically worked as normal. The delivery guy seemed perfectly calm and cheery - this was at 8pm last night so if he'd had a terrible day he was hiding it well! Were the issues not nationwide? That seems surprising if it was an online issue. Am very relieved - I didn't hear about any of this until afterwards! Hope everything gets resolved in time for anyone who has had trouble.

Ours came bang on the start of the slot with no substitutions this evening. Tesco.

Just had a call from the waitrose delivery driver, he's about 20 miles away and will be with us as soon as he can ( already 2 hours late ), he was very apologetic and said he would try and get us a discount as it our first order.

I feel sorry for the delivery drivers, they must be working very hard to get the deliveries out ASAP. No hard feelings here but still hungry.

We got a random box of chocs with our waitrose delivery today. On time and only a few sensible subs (mince pies and pud both got upgraded!)

I stopped using Waitrose for Christmas shopping a couple of years ago as they were always delayed or didn't show up or too many items were missing. Rest of the year they were fine but never at Christmas.

I've used Ocado for Christmas since and just paid the £9.99. Last two years they've turned up with everything and on time. They came this evening - dh is home to take it in. Text from them this morning just said it was missing clotted cream so I grabbed some from local shop when passing.

Just got my order, they gave me a £10 voucher for being late, 11 substitutions including my Florentines Sad and dh's sour cream Pringles were subbed for salt and vinegar ( he's not happy ), but I have the important things like potatoes, veg, stuffing and cheese.

Are you in Cardiff OP? They cancelled my delivery tonight and will come 9-1 tomorrow. Thankfully I had enough stuff for tonight and tomorrow morning, but I'll be screwed if they don't have everything I need in the delivery tomorrow. I'm hoping for some free chocs and a discount after you lot :)

Our waitrose order was couple/few hours late (I'm losing track) but delivery guy was smiley, even when I returned items ordered by mistake when DD put whole of really old order into basket (loo roll, washing powder, fabric softener and compostible veg waste bags.)

He gave us a bottle of wine as an apology for lateness. Only a few subs -ll sensible.Really pleased as turkey crown was in order.

Veg all came earlier from Riverford. They are always reliable and you can count on the Christmas veg box having sprouts etc so don't need to worry about things being out of stock. They do great salad bags and boxes too as some years have struggled to get salad in local supermarket.

Mine finally turned up 4.5 hours late with a knackered looking driver. 5 substituted items 4 went back (all my contributions to Christmas lunch at my sisters) and three missing items, including tonight's meal and my annual marrons glacé treat. Not terribly impressed.
If all the slots are booked in advance and they don't offer any more how can they be taken by surprise that they've got orders to deliver? Anyway the kids will be wheeling me round Sainsburys en route to Christmas tomorrow, yippee.

I stopped using Waitrose last year. I was totally fed up having to go out on Christmas Eve to shop for essentials. The last time we did click and collect and loads of things were missing (no substitutes for things like bread and potatoes), but when we went round the shop, everything missing was on the shelves.

Hope everyone gets what they need without too much stress!

Well, naturally it came in the short time I was out, I had briefed the DCs on what to do. DS has AS and doesn't do 'surprises'.

They didn't ask 17 year old for any ID so he's got loads of cider now as I got DH to get some last night.

There were 9 substitutions including the all-important pigs in blankets and the figgy pudding stuffing balls. Xmas Sad

They'd swooped brandy cream for brandy butter and given me 2 lots of sausage meat stuffing. Xmas Hmm

I rang to ask what to do with the substitutions I didn't want and they took them off my bill but told me to keep them.

I fessed up that there was a bottle of Prosecco and a box of biscuits that I hadn't ordered but they were free gifts and I've just found a Waitrose gift card but I don't know how much it's for.

I'm quids in financially but I won't be doing it again as it's too stressful, hopefully I'll be driving again by next Christmas and I'll do it myself.

I had to go to Waitrose (it's the nearest) on the bus to get the pigs in bloody blankets!
