All you organised people will be saying "Nothing. The presents are bought and wrapped. The food is on order"

But for mortals .....

I will rule out doing anything on days I'm at work because I'm useless after work. Get home, feed people, tidy up. That's it.

But still outstanding....

Haircut (desperately needs done)
Then hair dye (at home. I cannot be doing with paying £££ )

Costco shop to buy drinks, beer, washing powder, binbags, a huge tinned Panatonne Blush

Last minute IKEA trip (mid week. It's Hell at weekends)

Taking DD out Saturday (cinema /shopping with one of her friends). I can wander about.

Cashing up the £2 jar (Family tradition)

Taking the DC and DH out on Sunday (maybe my DS will buy me a present Grin )

Big Sainsburys shop (DS/DD will see that Harry Hill film)

London on the 21st

Make marzipan and decorate cake

Make chocolate crispy wreath and chocolate house (mine won't eat gingerbread )

Wrap all the presents (might do this on Fri 13th if I can be trusted with scissors)

Put up the rest of the decorations (got the tree up)

DD has something on at school in the last week (Dance)

Last minute run round Waitrose - just because it's there Grin

A Twitch Trip to M&S and Lakeland possibly on the 19th after work (my last work day before Christmas. Late night isn't too busy)

I thought I was organised but this seems like a mammoth task .

Still to do:

Buy last gift each for ds and dd
finish wrapping (less than half done), and for that purpose:
Buy more wrapping paper and tags
Buy more cards and write. I did buy enough until 10yo ds comandeered a box after saying he didn't want any
Shopping for food. I have booked a tesco slot but it needs heavy amendments. Also m&s for treats
Work Christmas do on Saturday. Need new dress
Christmas meet up with uni friends , Sunday
plan a party for 28th
prep spare beds for guests
Kid's activities:
3x Christmas parties
choir carol concert
Scouts carol concert
choir bbc recording
School play
church nativity
Christmas day choir service
post cards UK and Europe

Turkey and bike helmets ordered!

Report
MummyPig24 · 10/12/2013 05:29

I've wrapped everything I have bought. But we still need to buy for Fil, gfil and BIL.

I'm ordering the turkey crown today. There are pigs in blankets and stuffing in the freezer, cranberry sauce in the cupboard and I've started getting drinks and crisps and some mince pies.

I still need to get bike helmets for the kids and check that their bikes are all there in the boxes. And I need to finish writing Christmas cards.

None of that will happen today as from 12 I have 2 children and from 3.20 I have 4 children. And it's ds school play tonight. But I will go to asda this morning for more wrapping paper and labels and will get a few festive bits with my usual shop.

Frozenatchristmas · 09/12/2013 18:15

Wrap all gifts. Just waiting on one to be delivered.

Finish the online food order from asda.

Go to marks and spencer on 23rd to get ordered food

Clean the house

Have an afternoon, by myself, to watch some made for TV rubbish christmas movie.

Well I made a start on the wrapping today, but didn't even get half of it done. I have got the DC way too much, or at least it looked that way spread out over the living room floor Xmas Shock I usually keep a few things back for New Year though and I might also save some of them for their birthdays instead.

Started to get the twitch because DD's pile looked bigger than DS's (bigger boxes) but thanks to my lovely spread sheet I know he actually has slightly more than her and his stuff cost me more too.

Hopefully I will get the food all ordered tonight as I can't wrap in the evenings anymore as DS doesn't go to sleep until 10pm ish and will be up and down to get drinks/use the loo before then and I will be too tired after that.

How funny, just after posting the friend who I'd been meaning to phone actually called me - had a long catch up :)

oh god I've got tonnes!

Currently taking a break from writing cards (we had some printed with a painting of a snowman 3 year old DS did, I thought that would be cute and how organised of me to order them early November, only arrived today!)

Post gifts to people we won't see before christmas

Wrap gifts (first get DH to make DS's pirate ship, I'm not dealing with that christmas morning, we'll wrap the finished article, not the box)

Pick up some John Lewis vouchers - for my DB and some for DS's nursery key worker

sort out tips for cleaner and postman (anyone else?)

Get hair dyed

go onto ocado and change the order

Make a birthday cake (for 27th Dec, best do it before or I'll be doing it at midnight on boxing day!)

Put up decorations (next Saturday)

seems alot...

Xmas Hmm
I too started really early and have been giving myself smug pats on the back at my superior organisational skills. Except the "one room a day weekend blitz" has so far only involved detail cleaning the fire place and washing the tiles in the bathroom.
Also several well thought out gifts I realise are still virtual gifts as I haven't actually made/ ordered them yet.
I clearly am not cut out for such aspirations Xmas Grin

Declutter and clean everywhere (may even have to tackle the oven - God help me!)
Find several presents that I have hidden too well and wrap them
Wrap all of DD2's pressies (have done DD1 so atleast that's a start)
Get PIL's presents, its going to have to be vouchers at this rate
Make crafty bits with dd's, will do bits and pieces whenever I get a spare half hour
School plays
School discos
School carol concert and possibly church visit but not 100%
Watch Frozen (take dd's and make dh come too!) and have a walk round Christmas market - even if for only 10 mins. I'm determined to get to one this year!
Take dd's to see reindeer at local garden centre and have a hot chocolate (dd1 is really looking forward to this more than anything else so must squeeze it in)
Go for meal - anywhere, don't care as long as I don't have to do anything except eat and drink
Write cards, scrap that - buy cards, then write them
Decide on plans for Christmas Eve, order in food or atleast have something in the cupboards a bit special.
Buy some sodding squirty cream - keep forgetting arrrrggghhhh!
Going to Chessington for a couple of days so make sure we all have warm nice clothes and pack it before the school breaks up.
Luckily I got mine and the dd's hair cut the weekend, dropped off some presents to friends and collected pottery pieces that dd's painted, so feel like I did something productive.

Oh yes I forgot:

Get DD (6) and possibly DS (4) to do their school cards

Bring home chocolate (presents) I've stashed in my locker

Make sure I get food I've promised to bring for work Xmas lunch (which is actually on a day off but I'll go in anyway)

Finish making DS' present of a dressing up outfit - few bits of embroidery and spray painting a wooden hammer gold Xmas Grin

Carry on with DD's piano lessons - she has just started learning with me and is determined to learn jingle bells by the big day!

Finish reading current book with DD so we can start a new one (got a few lovely gift editions to give her for Xmas) - that's just me being silly though Xmas Blush

Take back a load of library books

Think I'd better start writing things down and crossing them off Grin

Loadsa stuff.

A few more bits to get in town - only one trip needed, waiting for deliveries as well though.

Make a few cards with DCs

Take an inventory of what we've actually got for presents, make sure it's roughly even and hopefully avoid The Twitch (although I had a bit of a twitch on amazon yesterday Xmas Blush)

Wrap everything!

More decluttering as progress has somewhat slowed down lately

Tidy the hell up. This unfortunately includes a huge backlog of laundry since our washing machine packed up and new one isn't due til Friday! Xmas Sad Need to hand wash uniform in the meantime though.

Plan food, also need to ask if my parents mind getting a takeaway on Xmas eve since they'll have the car Xmas Grin

Redo tesco order for 23rd (just put loads of alcohol in the basket to book the slot. Even though we don't really drink Xmas Hmm)

Find out if friend is coming or not on the day

Phone another friend, realised we haven't been in touch since last Xmas eve Xmas Shock

Get stuff ready for the den we are 'building' for DCs (the elves will leave clues to it on Xmas eve, and their jammies will be there)

Figure out where all the decorations are scattered, put them up (20th dec, last day of school) and get decent boxes ready to put them away properly/safely in Jan

Decide what presents are going to be from parents/grandma (they prefer to give us money so we choose 'assign' items to each IYSWIM) and Santa

Plan post-Xmas family cinema/lunch trip

Find out if we are having any other visits/visitors

Order school photos, just remembered we've got 2 days left before discount ends!

Finalise Xmas iTunes playlist :o

Find out if I can manage to go to any carol services this year

Get DCs to choose presents for each other and DH (they've already done mine apparently!)

Erm... think that's it Xmas Confused Thankfully after my late shift tonight I've got the rest of the week off!
