This is going to be our first Christmas with pets, we adopted two rescue cats last week. I was a bit Shock when I saw all the Christmas stuff appear in Pets at Home this week, we might not do Advent calendars but the DCats are definitely going to get something for Christmas.

I'm going to be the miserable sod......love our cat to bits but as he's an animal too thick to realise it's Christmas, I don't buy him a present. He has real problems reading the gift tag and undoing the ribbons too....so I put a bit extra in the food bank for a human in need.
But each to their own Grin

My cat loves christmas! She adores the christmas tree. She lies underneath it and carefully pats the low hanging baubles. She also likes to help me with the wrapping. She waits until my back is turned then rips the labels off the presents and runs away with them. So of course she has to have a couple of presents. The hamster is not quite so interested in the festivities.

My poor dog gets Christmas presents but has never had an advent calendar. I will have to fix that this year! Smile Thanks for the great ideas.

Yes my Patterdale is part of the family so why not. It's usually a stocking and a toy hell destroy in half an hour!

It's his birthday 3 day later where he gets a new collar and lead (they never last 12 month and I like the change!Grin)

Our cats get new collars on their birthday and a selection of toys and tasty dinner on Christmas. The bunnies get fresh fruit (and their jabs!) on their birthday and usually a new bit of wooden climbing frame or toys and the remains of the sprout tree for Christmas. The fish get extra live food and this will be our first Christmas with the lizard, I expect I'll buy her some expensive grubs as a treat. I also buy my mum's dog an oversized rawhide bone for Christmas.
Just a word of warning on the animal advent calendars, the ones for guineas, bunnies and small rodents usually have yoghurt based treats in which your pet would not eat in the wild so they can give them upset tummies if fed every day for a month. Best to make your own with fresh herbs, dried fruit and veg snacks or even some dried edible flowers.

Yes! Father Christmas brings the cats a stocking and a present ie fluffy blanket, new bowls etc.

And they have Christmas dinner too ie bowl of turkey and ham. Oh and they like a bit of cheese too.

Wow advent calendars for catsGrin. Our cats think they're human members of the family anyway.

Yes, the dogs will be getting rope toys and some chews, cat will get a toy and maybe some tuna. I buy for the dogs so they keep out of the way a bit when the dd's are opening and playing with their toys, the cat gets presents because the dogs do (its only fair) Smile

I always used to get our dog a present. He loved Christmas as much as we did. Always miss him more at Christmas Sad. I do get little treats for my cat but don't wrap them. She isn't as bothered as the dog used to be!

We have an outing every year for DDog to choose her present(s). DH started this a few years ago when we became empty nesters. We take her to the pet store, go to the toy display, and DH picks up various toys and shakes them at her. Her strongest reaction picks the toy(s). Then we all three go out for lunch (drive-through fast food and then picnic in the dog park).

Oh, we are in Florida which is why we can picnic in the dog park in December.

I've just looked on Amazon, it's amazing. You can get all sorts of advent calenders for cat's and dogs, even selection boxes. Grin It's wonderful. Still don't actually have any pets though.Grin

My dog has an advent calender . Last year he got a new collar , chews and a toy from The Purple Bone . He has everything wrapped as he likes to unwrap . This year I'm not sure what he is getting as his main present but I'm going to the horse show at Olympia in December so I'm hoping to get something there. For his birthday in June he got a Bubble blowing machine .

My old dog, which is with my mum now, has a Christmas wardrobe... Last year she was a snowman! She's been an elf, Santa and a reindeer.

My mum turned up with two advent calendars off our two dogs the other day - she saw them and didn't want them to sell out.

And yes we have pet stockings and things get wrapped. It has to be done!

My cat gets an advent calendar, some Dreamies, a new toy and some turkey and a bit of sausage for Christmas lunch. Not that he has a clue what's going on, but he indulges us.
