Hey dudes

I have 2 dd's 6 & 4. Am thinking of getting them to choose a small present (under 5 quid) for their sister. Do your dc's do this?

yes, i give them £5 each and a list of people , mum dad sister brother! and let them loose in poundland! it means that i dont mind if presents are awful or completely inappropriate.

Ah thanks peeps. It just struck me that they were old enough (or have been old enough for a while now) to do it.

We'll go out today and they can get excited about choosing something.

It's lovely that your children are crap at keeping it a secret AChickenCalledKorma

Yes. In the hope that as they get older they will do so themselves automatically. It started off with me just doing it for them. Then asking a slightly older child for input, then giving them a budget and shopping with them (to stop them just buying eg Match Attax cards for a 3 yr old girl), to giving them extra pocket money and letting them get on with it. They do actually come up with nice ideas after a while!

Mine are 6 and 9. Yes, they have bought each other present (with my money!) for the past two or three years. They enjoy choosing and are completely terrible at keeping it a secret.
