Sick of our usual salmon-ey something.

No soup (too filling) and no prawns (two people don't eat seafood).

Any great recipes you'd like to share?

TIA

Some interesting ideas in Sainsbo's mag:

  • smoked salmon, with vodka chilli and lime
  • melon with serrano ham and pomegranate
  • baked beets with goats cheese toasted walnuts and olives
  • scallops with ginger, spring onions and coriander

When I was a child, we always had turkey giblet soup. More like a broth.

I read a really good thread on here the other day and somebody very wise said that they never do starters as they are too filling but buy some nice pre-prepared canapes and serve them on trays with drinks in the living room whilst they finish off cooking the meal.

I think this is a really good idea and will be stealing it this year. If you had an aversion to pre-prepared you could make some canapes in advance? Sorry don't have any particular recipes!

You have room for starters?!

Chocolate usually works for us Grin. And it's a struggle to get pudding down after main as well!

But if you insist, what about a pate of some sort? Mushroom perhaps, I always find that lighter than meat ones. WIth little triangles of toast.
