Irritable hip: recovery time and did things get better and worse before resolving?

Ds 3.5 was diagnosed with "irritable hip" last Friday, after a day in A&E having blood tests / Xrays / ruling out the more sinister possibilities of a sudden limp.

On Sat he woke up with no symptoms at all, but by Sat pm was limping again; Sunday in lots of pain and not walking again; gradual improvement Mond-Weds lunchtime, then limping again Weds pm, lots of pain weds night / on Thursday, and not walking today (although generally better).

has anyone else had a DC with irritable hip (I know some of you have, as I've already searched the threads!), and if so, how long did it take to resolve? At this rate DS will be addicted to prescription painkillers sometime soon.....

TIA

My dd1 had irritable hip one day in 1997 when she was 3. Couldn't walk, slept all day. Dr came to see her late afternoon and sent her to orthopaedic hospital where I ended up staying the night with her after she had scans, tests etc and nothing could be discovered. The cause was never explained.

In the morning, she was better and we went home. It never recurred.

I just asked her what she remembered about it and at first she couldn't remember it at all. Then had vague memory of being pushed in a wheelchair in the hospital.

I've posted on this before but I seem to remember ds being prescribed anti- inflammatories and paracetamol for a week post discharge - prior to discharge he had been unwell for about 4 days and gradually improved - no set backs as such. However, he wasn't supposed to do any running or physical activity, just lots of rest to recuperate.
PS the meds were administered regulary, even through the night initially.

my dd had this just before her second birthday and then again before she was three.
syptoms lasted a couple of days and then she was fine.would worry if he had a temperature with the limp as could be a sign of septic arthritis

Ds was diagnosed with this a few months ago at about the same age
He still struggles everytime he is run down and we have had to use his pushchair a few time too.
The first time it took about two weeks for him to be comfortable and struggled more later on in the day.
