Son's penis is curved

I wonder if anyone has come across this before and has any advice. As an infant we noticed my ds had an unusually curved penis and at the time our GP advised he only needed a routine circumcision, after which it should correct itself over time. As this appeared a relatively simply solution we went ahead and in any event, circumcision in the male members of both mine and my husbands family had been hhhthe norm. Sadly my husband passed away and I am now a single parent where my ds is the only male (now 12 yrs) in a house with 2 younger sisters. Although nudity has never been an issue, understandably my son has preferred more of his own privacy as he has grown older, however I was late for the school run recently and ran into the bathroom where my son was still in the shower and noticed his penis was sticking out with the same very distinct curve. Although not yet in puberty I was worried and so we went back to our GP who said a corrective procedure was a strong possibility, but as an interim measure prescribed a steroid type cream to try and lessen the tightness down one side. I wondered if anyone else had experience of this condition and whether the outcome was positive without undertaking invasive surgery?
