I would like to share with you how I got my little son out of eczema and allergy. He was only 2 months old when doc prescribed him steroids and antibiotics for his eczema. I gave him but after short time the problem become much worse. My GP, dermatologist, homeopath no- one seems to have an answer. I refused to serve any more medications. He was also allergic to almost everything!!!!! He was scratching and had spots all over the body and mainly on his face. It was the worst time of my life!
Then I read 'Philosophy of Health' and I started to eliminate some food products but also, I understood that his liver was very weak. I needed to take care of it. and I did. I was cooking broths ( once he was able to eat it), I was giving him ginger drinks, quinoa porridge..... While I was breastfeeding - I kept the same diet.
My son was getting better and better every weak.
The main thing is to understand, that we can help our little ones. But we need to know what to do and have the willingness to do what it takes to succeed. I did. Many friends with similar problems are asking me for advices now. Also, my husband cured his hay fever and allergies!!! But just doing same things I did with the little one....
GOOD LUCK

Grin at dairy cow. I was convinced I stank of off milk.

Gran, bless her, also tried to stop me eating chocolate or drinking hot chocolate on the basis it would make my skin dark. But that's nothing to do with the ezcema.

NotEven: aaah your post has brought back memories. I had to drink both goats milk and buffalo milk. I don't even like cows milk. And was washed in yoghurt, milk and cream. I smelt like a dairy cow for days.

million are you Indian?

I remember my dgran on the advice of someone she met gave me goats milk. I know that in some people there's a link between lactose sensitivity and their ezcema. But not in mine (inherited atopic, dry type). It made me projectile vomit.

She also thought I should wash with yoghurt Hmm. Which made no sense in light of the goats milk thing.
I ignored her and used the balnium emollient instead.

This reminds me of my mothers suggestion that I had childhood eczema because I didn't pray at the temple enough and I drank too much water (and water was fattening). Utter tosh.

Eczema is very often inherited, atopic eczema. That's why some ethnic groups are far more prone to it than others, despite having no common dietary traits.

There's an entire industry of charlatans feeding off parents angst about suffering infants. Anyone claiming to 'cure' eczema should be regulated in the same way as any pharmaceutical product (or alternatively offer their services for free...).

Inherited eczema (as opposed to temporary dermatitis) cannot be cured but it can be managed and mitigated. My daughters eczema is far milder than mine was simply because I've educated myself on how to help prevent and treat it, in a logical, rational, evidence-based way. And I didn't have to buy a book from Amazon.

Hot and cold stuff sounds a bit like what my friend's chinese MÃŽL inflicted on her. It was 35 degrees just after her dd was born and she wasn't allowed to drink water as it was 'cold', she also told she mustn't wash her hands for the first month after the baby was born or go outside. She did but her a MIL is seriously worried about how this will affect her in old age! I think it may be Taoist beliefs?

If you can only eat food that is in season in 'nature' in the uk then I guess you won't be eating any more fruit until April and your vegetable choice is now seriously curtailed as well. Not sure what you are doing about grains, pulses etc as I can't think of any of those being harvested just now either...

OP you lost me at "my homeopath couldn't cure him"...you clearly need a better homeopath! Wink

I should have said "is supposed to" instead of "will" aid digestion.
sorry about that

I'm buying this book for MIL for Christmas. every 3-6 months she falls for another "diet" that cures all ails. this will do just fine till Easter!Grin

Fru & Not

thank you.

And Thanks to you too and all of who are suffering.

ginger

again I give you that much that aiding liver function will improve digestion and when I still had gallstones I was advised to eat food that "strengthens" the liver (such as beetroot).
but seriously you can not claim that eating cold natured chickens causes eczema.
you sound enthusiastic and as your family's health improved I understand you are happy and wish to pass on info.

but please, please acknowledge the fact that it is not that simple! you can not generalise like that.
and repeating phrases from that book without explaining basic references does make you sound bonkers.

Is chicken still cold if you curry it? Confused

Oh this is hilarious!

Make sure you tell all the doctors, dieticians and allergy nurses all of this OP, I'm sure they would be so pleased to know you've found a cure and that all their work was a waste of time.

We helped our DS's eczema using steroids, emollients and a dairy free diet. Now at two years old he's much better and back on dairy. I know what I'll stick with thanks.

I had hoped this might be a serious topic and the op was misguided in her attempt to share something that worked for her.
But it turns out its another snake oil variant - I will not be returning to the thread...

Arf at no chicken.

I thought chicken was part of a bland hypoallergenic style dinner. as in poached chicken and rice.

who new it was cold in its nature

frau Flowers. For your dc and for you.

I hope that science continues to progress and develop and helps people manage their conditions more and more effectively.

I have greater faith in that than some random snake oil cure.

Ginger - if you had read my posts, you might have had an inkling that my child has much more of a condition than just a cream for eczema can treat. That is what is so so dangerous about you advising me over the internet, when you have NO IDEA about my child's condition.

I prefer to trust the doctors who have been treating said child since they were 6 weeks old than some random peddling hot humours and cold humours.

gingertreat · 24/11/2014 15:31

Frau,
And you keep applying all the creams with faith that one day will help you.
Good luck. Best wishes

Those herbal medicines and assorted hokum have been tested by scientists and the stuff that works has become MEDICINE.

Everything else is water, a nice bowl of soup and some herbs. So knock yourself out.

OKAAAAAY.

Now you really sound bonkers.

God help your child if they are ever seriously ill.

Report
gingertreat · 24/11/2014 15:21

I will only say that pharmaceutical business has one of the larges revenue!
If the medication was so great - why do we all suffer?
I appreciate work of our doctors and scientists but there are areas where we can prevent or help ourselves, and where science did not get yet.

So can I eat hot roast chicken then?

This thread would be hilariously bonkers, if the OP wasn't genuinely trying to persuade people to cure dangerous conditions by eating warm natured quinoa..

Report
NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 24/11/2014 15:18

It's not the hot/cold food, ginger juice or anything else what did it. It's advances in medicine, public health and surgery.

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 24/11/2014 15:15

In the UK, circa the 1900s before asda, Tesco et al it was about 47 for a man and 50 for a woman

Today it's 77 and 81 respectively.
