DD has dark shadows around her eyes 3 days after a nasty bump to the head :(

Just hoping for a bit of advise or reassurance if anyone else has been in a similar situation. Basically DD, who is 2.4yrs, decided to flip herself off the sofa and landed flat on her face on the floor. She had a massive bump to the head which looked huge and scary, we managed to reduce the swelling a lot by using a cold compress and after she had calmed down she seemed to be back to normal. It is only today, 3 days later, that we've noticed she's suddenly got two dark shadows around her inner eyes which is concerning us a little. I've read it could be associated with an allergic reaction which may be true as she has eczema which comes and goes but she's never had this as well. Or DH said it could be the bruising from the bump she had moving down from her forehead which I'm also not too sure about, never heard of bruises moving as such. Anyone got any ideas ?

Dd recently had a very nasty bump to the back of her head. She got concussion. Took 3 weeks for all symptoms to disappear.

My dd did this last year aged 3, she had an horrific bump on her forehead, resulting in two black eyes after a couple of days. Awful to look at but she seemed totally oblivious to it after the initial fall.

Ah ok

I can barely move off the sofa

3 year olds are obviously more resilient than 30-something's!

I believe it is just some of the bruised blood moving down to the eye area?

Could be wrong. But it has happened a good number of times here.

Thanks for your replies, Its good to know it is normal after a bad bump to the head. I hear what you're saying about concussion and it is a serious issue to consider. However DD was totally normal after the bump, she was not dizzy or nauseous at all just upset as would be expected. She is still reacting totally normally 3 days on and is still full of beans and trying to jump over the sofa again!

This has happened to my kids lots of times.

I went to the Gp the first time but he said it s totally normal after a bad bump on the head to get a black eye or even two black eyes, depending where the bump has been.
