How to give baby inhaler???

7 month old DS has terrible cough and cold and has been wheezing a lot for a couple of days. GP has given us a Ventolin inhaler with a spacer device - any tips on how to administer this? He screams the place down and shakes his head. It doesn't really seem to be helping so not sure he's actually getting any of it.

I can remember this too- then we decided to sing to my daughter, Twinkle Twinkle was the song of choice. She ended up joining in the actions and the whole thing was a lot less of a nightmare. Distraction was the key, I think. Good luck!

DS has been on inhalers since 6 months, unfortunatly it takes a while for them to get used to it. Hopefully he won't need it for to long though!

At first with DS it was a constant fight to get it into him, but I was told not to worry to much if they are screaming as then they are taking it in.

Let him play with the spacer, give the inhaler to mummy, his teddies etc.

When you are holding it on his face make sure you don't cover his eyes as I found that was when DS really got aggravated.

Try as much as you can to keep calm as if you are tense he will pick up on that.

Hope he is better soon x

I can remember having to pin ds down at that age to make sure we had a good seal with the mask. Not nice but worth it.
