DH bought a Roald Dahl box set and DS is loving them.

However, after reading nightly for 3 weeks, it's time for a change - Any suggestions?

Agreeing with the Dr Zeuss suggestions. All of his books are favourites in our house. The Lorax always makes me cry though. That Guy was so ahead of his time

Definitely Flat Stanley

I always say this one but How to Train your Dragon by Cressida Cowell

DD wasn't inspired by Mr Gum but they are very popular.

Charlotte's Web - I'd forgotton about that, that's a lovely book.
Winnie the Pooh's a good idea too. I even have those, sat on his shelf.

I was going to say James and the Giant Peach but I see you are looking for a break from Roald Dahl.

Ds really enjoyed The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, in fact it is probably his favourite book.

We haven't read any of the Flat Stanley series yet but they look quite appealing for 5 year olds.

I enjoyed reading Charlotte's Web when I was very young.

Winnie the Pooh - we have them on CD for the car as well as the books. DS2 is 5 and he loves them.

He's also very much into something called Beast Quest at the moment - adventure stories - he thinks they're brilliant!
