It was about a girl who had been living with her grandmother but the gm got ill and had to go to hospital so the girl was sent to live with some distant relatives - a family with 3 children I think. The grandmother had brought the girl up in quite an old-fashioned way and it was a real shock for her living with a "normal" modern family. The father was an architect iirc and they had a non-traditionally coloured artificial Christmas tree! The girl was also shocked that the children were allowed to eat food in the street (they had chips on the way home from somewhere) and for Christmas she was given jeans and a jumper by the family as part of her presents as she'd never had a pair of jeans before...
That's about all I remember - does it ring any bells with anyone? I'm guessing it was published in the early 70s as I read it when I was at primary school and I was born in the mid 60s...
