I've just read this, tear in my eye, not realising til the end it was 7 months ago! Many congratulations. I had 2 home births, first i spent 5 hours in the pool, 2nd about 20 mins before the baby arrived. I would definitely recommend it too. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.

Just reread this, and cried more than I did at the time! She is now 7months old and sitting up beautifully, eating happily and sleeping occasionally and having jealous fits when I cuddle DD!
Victorian - I found out she was on the way on the morning of the day we met up with the cameras - did anything come from that?
NMM is amazing as a friend as well as reporter!
I was lucky and would recommend home water birth to anyone - part of me is glad the placenta took so long as otherwise I wouldn't have spent much time in the pool! Sure the MW would have been happier if it had been quicker as she watched DH feeding me chocolate and champagne!
Not many little girls have a print out of their own MN thread in their baby books!

I didn't even realise you were pregnant!!
Nice to see she was named after me though. Thanks for that.

Hi Yorky, congratulaions and welcome to Amy. I hope you are well x

Thought I ought to come on, belatedly, and say thank you for all the lovely messages of support, and agree with everyone who says Amy Lorraine is beautiful! I am still in shock/denial that she is more than 2lbs heavier than her big brother was.
On my notes the 2nd stage is recorded for posterity as 6mins - felt like ages to me.

I also need to publicly thank nomore for being a very supportive and generous friend even when she's having a horrible time herself.

Well done Yorky and your little girl, Iam really pleased (and a little jealous!) that you had such a wonderful and successful HB.

And what a fantastic photo!!

Great updates NMM - you could offer your services to all HB mums!!

Howdie - you wouldn't have had time to type a reply on you mw forum for this labour - I'm not sure the mw got the chance to explain everything that was happening in full to the trainee mw before the next stage happened!
It was the most amazing thing to see - I'm totally in awe of all of you ladies who have done such an wonderful thing. Pat yourselves all on the back
I left about half ten, after mws left we ate the chinese I'd been out for after putting Yorky's DS to bed then I headed home as DS and DD () were both asleep and Mum and Dad looked like they were heading that way too.
I'm sure Yorky will be on soon to give you her side of the story, so I'll sign off now.
Thanks for keeping me company ladies!

what an amazing and inspirational thread! Well done Yorkie and thanks NMM for the great updates. Somebody said it already but I cant believe that Yorkie went from cooking DS's tea to having a brand new baby in her arms (and a big one at that!) all in the space of two hours. Extremely moving.

(and NMM I love your knitted baby uggs - so cute!)

LOL, great thread! Congratulations Yorky and family and well done NMM.

With my last birth I had a live birth thread on a midwives forum I go on where my colleague posted live updates anonymously for me. I hadn't told any of the members of the forum that I was pregnant so it was a double surprise for them when my colleague posted the birth pic at the end of the thread. We have a section on the forum where we post unfolding segments bit by bit of labours to get comment on how other midwives would deal with that labour so it was done in that section.
