Stomach bug or labour?

Bumpandus · 13/06/2018 13:32

Last night I started getting regular contractions or BH every3 minutes that we’re innocent my back and lower abdomen and also felt in my hips. Quite intense and probably lasted about 45 seconds each.

I went to the toilet and had watery diarrhoea. Came back to bed more cramping then I was sick. Fell asleep then repeated this about 4 times in the night.

I’m 30 weeks pregnant and the diarrhoea has literally just started to settle a bit now and I have managed to drink some water and eat a banana. I’m now getting pressure down below which is also quite intense but comes and goes and some niggles in my back.

Could this be the start of labour OR is this a stomach bug causing all of this? Any experiences would be appreciated. Due to see my M/W tomorrow.

My daughter was diagnosed with SPD which sounds like what you may have .... certainly gets worse with walking. She's awaiting a physio appointment to hopefully help but, seeing as she only has 3wks left, I've a feeling it may be too little too late. Mention it to your midwife at next app ....

Midwife suggested I could be getting pelvic girdle pain. Has anyone else had this suddenly start up I’m 31 weeks today and the pain has been coming not long before I started this thread maybe 2 days? Gets worse with walking.

Meant to say regardless of what they are saying just turn up. They should not be turning you away with that history and symptoms.

Sounds very similar to my preterm labour so definitely go in. I also had threatened preterm labour two weeks before it all kicked off.

They can’t tell whether it was caused by sickness/diarrhoea without seeing you.

I hope you have been seen

Google early labour and check the symptoms against this. You've almost got a full house. Hope you've got proper help now and everything is ok.

What happened last night OP? Did it settle or did you go in?

Report
Doyoumind · 13/06/2018 22:47

I had a preterm labour that was very similar to this. They were telling me it was a stomach upset right up until my waters went and I started having the urge to push.

Definitely get checked OP. Lunacy not to.

I get what they're saying to an extent - if it's a stomach bug they won't want you anywhere near vulnerable newborns but with your history they'd a duty of care to see you if you're in pain and concerned.

How can they be certain that the diarrhoea is causing the tightenings or that the tightenings are cause of the loose stools?

Have you been vomiting or is it only diarrhoea? Been near anyone who has been vomiting or been unwell? Have you eaten something unusual or somewhere different we're you could have contracted food poisoning?

The diarrhoea could be a red herring. Without that, you've been having regular tightenings (and have been for hours) with pinkish mucousy loss and rectal pressure. Pink vaginal loss wouldn't be from diarrhoea.
And you are pre term, regularly tightening with a previous history of preterm birth.

I'm another one voting for call back and tell them you want to be checked out.

And yes, the diarrhoea may have irritated your uterus, but that doesn't mean you aren't going into premature labour.
