C-Section Underwear

Did anyone use special c-section knickers after their c-section? And if no, would you recommend them? And which brand?

I have had lots of surgery in the past and found light compression (which is what the knickers offer) really helped with healing the scar tissue better, so am tempted, but they are quite pricey for something I will only wear for a few weeks...

Thank you.

I wore huge black pants with a maternity pad over the scar. Made me feel a bit 'held in' and scar healed beautifully. Helpful to gently hold when coughing or moving too for a bit of security.

Haha thank you all!

BaskingTrout they sound the same as what I have looked at. I like the idea of feeling more 'held together'. Confused

I had c-section pants but I can't remember the brand. They were high waisted, light compression and they had a little pouch over the scar that you could put a dressing in. They were great.
After a couple of weeks, I just wore normal big pants and still do

DD is 4, I'm still in the giant knickers, so comfy!! Blush

In my experience, the wound was hidden for some time under an attractive overhang of belly which had not yet receded (yes, lovely!) so I am not sure the compression would have helped as it wouldn't have been on the wound, if you see what I mean. This may not be the case if you are very slim, but certainly was for both of mine! I am about a size 14.

Can I ask if these special C Section / Cantaloop pants are actually basically just 'control' pants (hence compression) with an extra bit of cushion in? I can't see what more they might offer? I am desperate to figure out if I need them before spending this much on them when control pants are cheaper. Thanks

Thanks everyone. I have some cheap big knickers - it was more the compression question and whether it helps (sounds like from a couple of you it might have). I had breast cancer and had a double mastectomy and had some post-surgery compression bras and suffered fewer problems with healing and scar tissue than some of the other girls I met at the hospital. So think the compression knickers might be worth a try, but are so expensive. Apparently they help suck your tummy back in quicker too...!!

XL mens boxers from primark. Waistband comes up just below my belly button so very comfy, cheap too.

Primarks massive high wasited ones to start with ( go in the bin when stained) then moved on to m&s giant high waisted pants. I seem to still be wearing them sometimes since first c sectiion 2 years ago ..

Just bought m&s massive 100% cotton waist high pants - loving them in late pregnancy! Also bought a c-section belt off amazon to wear underneath after reading some positive reviews here. Was 12 quid and hoping it will make my scar feel slightly safer from
my boisterous 2yr old...

Sloggi soft shorts - the most comfortable knicker in the universe!

I bought some black ones from Mothercare, they were actually fairly comfortable after the first couple of days (found the first 48 generally painful & uncomfortable) and I just wore massive black cotton knickers- think they were just normal maternity ones.

Funny, I didn't really wear maternity knickers at all during my pregnancy, only really after my ELCS and a few months down the line!

Yes I used the Cantaloop c section pants, available from John Lewis. They were pricey but were great, offer tummy support too which I found good. They were much much better and more comfy than ordinary large knickers. I still wear them!

Primark SEAMLESS knickers. They're so soft, nothing digs in at all. I started wearing them after my first cs and I've not worn any other kind of knicker since.

Well not weird Jack as clearly you were comfortable but the very thought of it makes me wince.

Anything that comes up to your belly button should be fine. I bought giant pants from primark.

Yup. I am clearly a weirdo Wink
My incision healed beautifully and very quickly, almost all the pain I had was the higher up bruising from the retractors.

Jack you wore low rise bikinis 5 days after a c-section Jack? Eek

Report
JohnLapsleyParlabane · 19/01/2017 19:35

I'm going to go against the grain here...o bought one pack of mega pants and only wore them once each. By the time I was 5 days pp I just wore my normal low rise bikinis.
I did however wear a pregnancy bump band a lot in the first few weeks post partum.

I used some blooming marvellous ones I think (from mothercare) the compression was great, I'm actually still wearing them under my jeans to hold everything in.
I had giant cotton ones from primary for the night.

Biiiiig black ones from Primark. I used the biggest regular sanitary towels I could find too, not the special maternity ones.
