5 weeks on and am feeling a lot more "healed" (although for some reason, pooing has become more painful in the last week - sorry if tmi) but am very nervous about first time (although not vaguely in the mood, know there has to be a first time) - how long did you leave it and was it OK?

My midwofe told me about once she was working on the labour ward, she walked in on a couple going at it on the bed 2 hours after the birth!

Apparently it was her 6th baby and she had an amazingly easy delivery with no stitches.

I figure it must have been like dangling a worm in a bucket!

I waited 3 months. It didn't hurt but I kept thinking of my stitches..during..which really killed the mood!

Deffo use lube though as things tend to dry up a bit down below after baby is born - Motion Lotion is good. (sorry if TMI)

DS1 we waited about 6 months but i had loads of stitches as i has a tear right through from my fanjo to my bum! [ouch] No piles though!

DS2 we waited 2 1/2 weeks i had 1 stitch with him and it didn't even hurt directly after he was born so it was fine, i have ended up with 1 lonley pile this time though which is a tad sore!

Monkey, not as far as I know! Though possibly depends what kind of sex you practice hem hem.

Piles conversation was a separate issue and refers to Squishy's comment about pooing.

I'm confused about the bottom thing...can sex give you piles?

God, sorry re-reading that, too much info on all fronts!

I waited about 6 weeks I think - sorry MP, evidently another slut here !

It was not desperately comfortable tbh and I didn't come first time (sorry if TMI). However it quickly improved. I'd say lubricate and loads of foreplay.

Agree with sleepfinder about the bottom! I thought once the baby was out all danger of piles was gone, and was very surprised to get a painful one about 3 months after the birth, especially as had not had any trouble in that department during pregnancy or labour.

morningpaper LOL. Everyones different - I had sex 6 weeks after (the time doc usually recommends) but to be honest I prob would have waited longer but dp was all amorous and hinting 6 WEEKS TO THE DAY after I had our little girl I prob would have waited a little longer but as I was still little sore and 2 be honest libido was completely gone! having said that .. maybe I was better off getting back into it before we got stuck in a rut. Just to be warned, everyones different but I was quite emotional after my first time after having dd. that might sound strange ... but just watch out for it!!. its terrible but its only NOW 14months on that im beginning to get the sex drive back...dont know what happened there... best of luck with it! I wouldnt put a time frame on yourself, just whenever you feel ready, but someone very wise gave me the tip to maybe have a glass r two of wine before your 1st time.. (I had a bucket )

JEEZ you are a bunch of sluts

I waited about 9 months and it didn't stop hurting until 18 months

I wouldn't even ride a BIKE until the baby was walking

I waited 3 wks, til the stitches had gone, but used lubricant and took things gently. It was fine.

(Keep an eye on your bottom, re: your mention of it - you don't want a horrible case of piles...)

It was 8 weeks before I had the inclination and about 4 weeks after that before the execution. I had second-degree tears but I think I'd healed nicely because by the time we got round to it (sorry if TMI), although I meant to I didn't use KY, and it didn't hurt. DH said it was "like before" .

If you are concerned, do use lubricant, so that the worry doesn't interfere with the enjoyment...

Poor dh waited 12 weeks! Not so much worried about the stitches, just didn't fancy trying to fit in sex between 2 hourly feeds!!!! (When we did finally manage it, it was fine!)
