Hi, We don't have a car & will be bringing our baby home from queen charlottes in west london. How do people without a car safely transport their new baby home?! We want to get settled at home before involving family & friends really. We have a car seat but no base at present. Are there taxis that provide car seats? Anyone else done this & recommend a firm? It keeps going round in my head!

Marking place. If all goes well will give birth in a central London hospital.

Pram + black cab or seat + Addison Lee sounds a good option guys, thanks for the tips! :)

We had no car and live in London we just called a cab as we were leaving ( I believe there was a phone at the entrance for that very purpose!)
And just strapped the car seat in the back without the base

Surely the taxi driver will help you?

Yes that's a job for him, I think I'll have done my bit at that point ;)

Thanks so much everyone. Such a small thing but great to know I can use Addison Lee for example & just strap in the seat. Must work out how to do that prior to the birth! Knew I wouldn't be the only car free new parent :) x

We don't have a car and just brought our car seat that was attached using the seatbelt. You don't need the isofix base provided the carseat can be fitted using the seatbelt only, the manual should have instructions.

I asked my DH to sort out the carseat / practise exactly how it needed to work. One less thing for you to worry about as you may not be feeling 100%.

No need for the base. Use the car seat you have. Make sure you and dh have phone number for Addison Lee. Or book through their website. Always used ALee when I had little ones and we lived in London.

Do you mean you have the car seat but not the isofix base? If so you can strap your car seat in with the seat belt as was done prior to isofix bases. I use taxis a lot and my dd is in a car seat that goes onto the wheels of my pram and straps in safely x

If you have a car seat, then you dont need the base. The base is an optional extra.

I would take your own car seat and get a taxi home.

Some hospitals wont let you leave without a visable car seat.

If you have a pushchair/pram and use a black can then you can just wheel it into the back.
