Membrane Sweep

I had a sweep yesterday around 9.30am at 40+1. My cervix was 1-2cm dilated and 1-2cm long but soft and mid/anterior. Midwife said I was favourable and she did "one hell of a sweep" as well as a student midwife having a go too... She said she'd be very surprised if it didn't work.

I had period type pains all day which started getting more intense. Had a bit of blood loss and think I lost a bit of my plug in the evening. Decided to try and sleep and got woken up by very strong period type pains around 1.30am. Eventually decided to pee and went back to bed. Now everything has stopped Confused. Had a bit of (tmi) diarrhoea this morning.

Been bouncing away on my exercise ball for the last two hours and going to go for a walk. Any chance of this all kicking off again or will I have to just wait it out...?

Any news happy? I had a sweep this morning too - am 41 weeks today. It didn't really hurt, just uncomfortable. Cervix around 1cm too and soft which they said normal in 2nd pregnancy. Nothing happened yet but has only been an hour or two!! They will do it again at weekend otherwise is induction for me on Monday (have to phone up hosp Monday morn and see if they can fit me in for induction).

I was thinking of starting a thread about sweeps and if/when they are worth having. Some people have told me they have just started them off having pains but no labour so is it worth the hassle? I am 40+3 and booked for induction on 22nd. I was thinking of leaving it until at least +10 to have the sweep as doesn't it have more chance of working properly the more overdue you are? Anyone knowledgeable on this?

Hit post too early...

I'm surprisingly not too frustrated about being overdue and not too uncomfortable but stupidly started to get my hopes yesterday when it all seemed to be kicking off. Silly me...

I thought you might say that... I'm booked in for another sweep on Monday and induction on Sat 19th.

I had five!
The last one started it off apparently but I was 9 days overdue so was probably going to happen anyway
It can just stop and start, DS2 started a couple of times and I even went to the hospital and came home again. You just have to wait it out I'm afraid

I had 2 with dd and neither worked and ended up getting induced.
