Car seats

Car seat for huge 2 year old (over 18kg)

I have a recently turned 2yo who is very tall and VERY heavy - he has already tipped 18kg so has exceeded the weight limit on his current seat.

My requirements are:

-ideally rear facing or swivels
-suitable for occasional use by an average-sized 5-6 year old (or if not can easily be switched in and out of the car)

Suggestions would be much appreciated!

Here's a list of all the 25kg seats with harness in the UK.

Two Way Elite almost universally recommended for holidays. Or look at the Diono Radian 5 as it folds up to go in a storage bag for travel. There's nothing else that will do really unless you're willing to use a HBB, which would be better than nothing but I wouldn't recommend!

The TWE is a good choice for one to travel with as along with the Minikid, it's one of the most universal fitting seats there is. You just need to make sure it's packaged properly for going in the hold. The original box and polystyrene packaging is alway recommended so it's worth keeping if you can.

We have a Two Way Elite for our 4 year old. We use it abroad too as it’s quite light to transport and very universal and fits into most cars.

TWE is relatively light and portable I believe. Pretty universal in fit too.

We do want rear facing for our main car seat sweep so 2-way elite is definitely a contender.

I’m not sure what will work as a seat that’ll do us for holidays etc though!

Just to warn, the 2 way elite is only good to 25kg rear facing, forward its only to 18 so no good to you.He would have to stay rear facing until you use a hbb.

Wow quick replies thank you!

Another question - what are our options for a cheaper seat for taking on holiday for hire car use? Are all the 5 point harness forward facing seats only good up to 18kg?

Axkid Minikid or Britax Two Way Elite. Both 25kg so fine for an average 5/6 year old and both can be fitted and removed quickly and easily once the tethers are already in place.

There are no 25kg seats which swivel.
