Lidl Coolbox - yay or nay?

Hi,

Does anyone have a Lidl coolbox? I've just bought one on a whim but not sure whether it's a good buy or not. I paid 34.99 and I'm worried that it is too noisy - 42dB!

Thanks.

Becky thanks for your feedback. I still haven't used mine - its still all wrapped up!

Its first outing will probably be on my DS's birthday BBQ :)

Took shiny new coolbox away for the BH weekend and it worked very well. Was quiet enough, I only heard it at night when all kids were asleep and even then it was only a slight hum. Food stayed cool as expected. I'm going to be more careful about unplugging this one though!

Becky please let me know how you get on with the coolbox. I've still got mine and won't be using it till my August holiday!

good suggestion though! :)

we picked up a new one today. It's almost the same, didn't come in a box this time, but wrapped in plastic. Will test drive it next weekend :)

no, it's not the fuse in the plug, tried that :)

it still works on the 12V cigarette adapter thing, but not on mains plug. We looked at getting a converter thing to turn the 12v into normal electric, but they were almost as expensive as a new lidl coolbox!

I have one from either Lidl or aldi, was great in France last year. We also turn off over night

I think you can change the fuse in the plug, becky.

We have one which I think is from Aldi. Lidl have done 2 versions in the past, one which is just 12V and one which can also be run on mains so check out if it's the version you want (as you can get mains cable separately but this bumps the price up and makes it less of a bargain).

Inside it's a good size and keeps things cold enough. But it is taller than a standard non EHU box. We tend to turn it off at night, and if possible use a couple of cool blocks to tide us over, but that is as much as needing the EHU for light/charging phones than anything else. On mine, it can be made a bit quieter by turning the cooler switch down.

I saw them in a local Llidl, but we are not EHU campers. I looked at the tents - Lidl don't seem to do SIMs do they?

I only came into this section to see if anyone had posted to say they were on sale at lidl again. They're an annual deal I think, so was expecting it to come up about now :)

We bought one about 4 years ago and it worked brilliantly until it stopped last summer. I've been waiting to see if they came on sale again to buy another one. DH said it was probably me unplugging it then plugging it back in (was packing up and had to move cables) that blew a fuse.

Anyone? Am I the first one to buy the electric coolbox from Lidl then?
