Handy hint - if you're planning to have a barbecue as we did this weekend, it's a good idea to take knives and forks - eating steak with a spoon isn't very easy...
Hope you enjoy Aberafon, GeorginaA - my nana lives in Caernarfon, so I spent most of my childhood holidays round there.

Now feeling very nervous and excited about this weekend for our maiden voyage...

You've probably been to Ashbourne (or not) by now, but I liked Callow Top when we went three years ago - that's in Ashbourne.
We went to Golden Valley caravan and camping park in Ripley, Derbyshire (kind of, but not very, near Ashbourne) at the weekend and it was fine. New, with nice clean facilities, but lots of people there, bit too many for me.

For seaside - I managed to book three nights at St David's Park in Anglesey for Bank Holiday weekend when a lot of other places were full, so that might be worth a try and it has it's own private beach apparently. Haven't been there before so can't recommend.

Bumping for you as I'm having the same problem.

Managed to book somewhere with EHU in the Forest of Dean for a couple of nights this weekend, but wanted 4 days near somewhere with a beach (ds1 is desperate to go to the beach) during the 19th-23rd August. Having trouble finding somewhere
