Infant feeding

My favourite breastfeeding moment...

My dd is 11 months old. When I get her into position for a bf and go to unclip my bra, she starts giggling and kicking her legs like a maniac. She gets so excited about it!

I love that moment.

That and the eyes rolling back just after she's latched on. I do the same when I eat chocolate. It must be good stuff!

Just though I'd share, and I'd love to hear about your favourite moments!

SUCH a great thread. Am missing breastfeeding even though she finished herself.

My favourite moments were us both falling asleep on a sleepy afternoon whilst feeding. I fell asleep then woke gently to find she had woken up and poped herself back on for some more. I rememebr thinking 'my god those weeks of getting it right were worht it for that sense of being able to provide for her'.

ALso love that she got all excited while I would sort my top out before feeding and roll her eyes back. SHe would make 'yummy' noises.... she only makes those noises now when she eats white chocolate....

DS is 2 now and I no longer feed him myself, but I loved feeding when we were somewhere really special on a day out. We would be sat having a picnic in somewhere really beautiful and DS would be laid there feeding and it all seemed so right.

I also loved it once he was really active at about 14 months (was down to 2 feeds a day by then), yet at his feed at bedtime he would lay there like a new born again all quite, still and relaxed.

Jackbaby used to make sounds that we called "the booby chuckle" while I was pulling up my shirt and unclipping my bra. His eyes opened wide and he did the little birdy mouth and reached with his hands for my breast, and the sound he made sounded like "heh heh heh aheh aheh aheh" with a big smile on his face . But now he's learning to talk so no more booby chuckle, instead, he sticks his hand in my bra and rummages around saying"baba, baba!!"

This is a sweet thread .

I forgot to add, she also gets excited when I get her into position for feeding, she knows what's coming and makes excited " ooooh ooooh ooooh" noises.

My absolute favourite thing has to be when I'm feeding dd (12 weeks today!) laying in bed. She has her eyes closed and is making contented little noises, and then when she's finished she puts her head on top of my boob and uses it as a pillow and goes properly to sleep.

I also keep looking at her and can't believe I made her.

Also love those melting moments when she's feeding away and stops to smile while gripping the nipple in her gums, while her hand stays possesively on top of the boob.

I don't want her to grow up!

My DS is 25 months and still rolls his eyes like a newborn when he latches on.. he also wriths in pleasure if he manages to stay there long enough. Such a lovely thread

When DS was newborn and he had finished feeding he used to come off, sigh, move his head slightly and lie on my boob just like a pillow.

Now it's when he giggles while feeding or gets himself into ridiculous positions, lol.

you

I just love those contented little grunts they make while they are feeding. (I miss BF too and mine are nearly 11 and 13)

My dd likes to stroke my face while she feeds.

I am also a big fan of the eye roll moment

When DD was exactly 4 weeks old I took her to bed with me for a nap, she started feeding and I was singing away to her when she came off and gave me the biggest gummy grin . It was the first 'proper' smile she had, when was sure it was a 'real' happy smile, not just wind!

Now mostly ffing and I still love it when she comes off and grins at me. Bottle feeding can provide wondeful memories too

This is a lovely thread to read.
DS is 7 weeks old tomorrow.
My favourite moment is still his first ever feed. Within 45 mins after he was born by CS, he latched on like a pro and stayed there suckling for more than an hour. I think we both felt v proud of ourselves.
Jacksmama - you describe that falling off the boob contentedness v well

When I think he's got his eyes closed and my attention wanders to the TV or laptop for a bit too long, I'll feel a warm hand on my cheek and when I look down, he pops his thumb in my mouth.

Oh, mine does the "hold the nipple gently between his teeth" thing, too - little stinker!! I don't really like it all that much, TBH - but the warning look I gave him seems to have stopped that for now.

The "I made that" moment still hits me. I occasionally look at him in disbelief that he's really mine.

I liked it when my DS held my nipple between his teeth (very delicately), looked at me and grinned, as if to say 'clever huh?'. Made me laugh, he's such a little tinker and it really showed his cheeky personality.

Best moment was after I went to breastfeeding clinic when he was 4 days old because we really hadn't clicked with it all, and I heard him gulping and swallowing the milk properly for the first time.

Second best was when it stopped hurting me....only 6 weeks of toe-curling pain before we cracked it completely!

I loved when she was very tiny and it had taken us a good week to get the hang of latching on properly, she'd finally fed really thoroughly then fell off asleep with milky chops and just a blissed out expression on her face

and recently, when we're feeding lying down in the night and she reaches up with her hand to rest it on my other boob, looking at her little hand and thinking "I made that!"

DS is 16 months and a little milk monster . I love it when he settles in my lap for a feed and cuddle, makes the little birdy mouth with eyes closed reaching for the nipple, latches on and then opens his eyes and looks straight at me. Ohhhhh [melting emoticon]... Also the little hand that reaches up and pats my chest, or the other hand that reaches around and pats my waist.
Even nicer when he nurses to sleep and pulls off, eyes closed, smacks his lips a couple of times, cuddles his head into the crook of my arm, Big Sigh, and he's off to sleep... aaaahhhhh...

Hi sweetie, how are you??

Mine at the moment: 11 month old ds3 has just learned to clap and likes to do it a lot - including when he is feeding - I take it as a statment on the quality and taste of my milk

Oh i love some of these stories

My most memorable moment so far was only yesterday. DD (4 1/2) sat in the park having a picnic so i am sat feeding Ds and Dd's sat feeding her dolly, top up and everything . I wish i'd have had someone to take our picture.

Love it all, smiling so much he loses his latch, holding on with both hands and looking round in a 'mine, all mine', his little hand tickling my side, I could go on, he's only 11 weeks

When i was feeding DS he used to make the most wonderful contented noises-it was so relaxing and utterly adorable... "click click click click hmmmmmmmmmmmm click click click click hunnnnnnnnnnn ....." and so on!

My favourite ever was after I'd followed Tiktok's advice for reducing supply-normally ds would wake up, scream, latch on, break on and off screaming, finish feeding, scream some more but this time he latched on, had a lovely peaceful gentle feed then fell asleep . I just thought "this is how it should be"

gecko had a problem with not being able to breathe through her nose to feed the other week

she is 2.3 and uses it to go to sleep

she was a little bit frustrated and was saying

'mummy, my nose not working'

Report

One of my sweetest memories of when DD was a baby was when she was about two years old, it was Christmas time and she had a rotten cold and couldn't breathe through her nose and therefore couldn't feed properly.

She only used the boob for going to sleep at night and nap times by this stage or if she needed some comfort.

We were in bed and I offered my boob and she tried but couldn't breathe so instead she gave me a kind of "I know what to do" look and just took my boob in her hands and put her face right in it and nuzzled, she was quite content with that and went off to sleep.

I still miss BF now. She is 7.
