When did AF come back and are their any tricks to bring it on?

Would like to keep bfing as long as DD wants but want to try for another DC. Is there any way of predicting when AF will come back and any tricks for bringing it on without stopping BFing completely? I know lots of women do get it while BFing, but lots don't. Do I just have to wait and see which I am?

AF came back when DD was about 3 months - while I was still breastfeeding

kellymom.com has lots of good info about breastfeeding and fertility. Mine didn't come back until ds2 was at least 18 months and even then I don't think I was ovulating much. We started ttc ds3 when ds2 was about 2 1/2 and it took about 9 months. But it was quite important to me not to forcibly wean ds2.

I agree with the advice about sudden changes - particularly stopping night feeds. My first period came back after I'd been away for a night with my sister. I did express a couple of times while away but the break appeared to be enough for my hormone levels to change.

How old is your dd?
My periods came back when dd was 9 months, just after she slept through for the first time. The longer overnight break was obv enough to kick my body into ovulating. First couple of cycles were a bit longer/more erratic than usual, but then settled down, despite dd still regularly having 9 or more feeds a day.

Mine started after having a coil fitted, not that a coil would help the ttc much!

you could try going to a very important and public event dressed in white trousers!

Yes.

DD is just coming on 13 months, I still haven't seen AF and we're also thinking another DC wouldn't be an entirely bad thing. I'm hoping I'll be one of those few women that can conceive before AF returns - unlikely, but you never know!

Making sudden reductions in the amount you BF seems to be most likely to have an effect - so if you suddenly stopped feeding through the night, that might do it. But basically I don't think you can tell in advance.

I was trying to get back to temping to try and get a handle on whether I was ovulating, but DD made that too stressful so I'm just going with the flow for now.

Good luck
