Infant feeding

Is this the end of BF - DS 14 months and not that interested

We got off to a difficult start but through determination and support I managed to exclusively BF DS till he was 12 months - I then introduced the odd bottle here and there - well, typically he now seems more interested in the bottle than me. I know I could just let it go and accept the end of BF but I feel quite hurt that it is over and want to try and get him interested again - I fully accept that this would perhaps be fulfilling my own need rather than his, but hey extended BF is good for both of us!

Has anyone got any tips for trying to get him feeding more - at moment he has a half hearted feed before bed and only really has one bottle when he wakes during the night - doesn't actually sound much milk at all now I think about it - he does eat well though.

Thanks

Hi ST just wanted to update you - since posting DS seems to have rediscovered the joy of BF No bottles for last two days and has fed during day as well. So hopefully I can stretch it out a bit longer!

It's all too easy to beat ourselves up isn't it?
I think mum's rock. We all have a tough job and somehow we manage to muddle through
Going to bed now as v tired and vowed to be in bed for 9.30 tonight (rubbish!!)
Anyway, hope to see you on Mn again soon
Have a good night

Thanks ST - typical really that instead of thinking , wow haven't I done well for feeding till 1 I am feeling guilty for giving bottles and bringing about the end of BF, as obviously all my fault! I will savour the moments and suspect it is more about not wanting him to grow up!

Well done to you too.

Just think how well you have done to get this far. It is not easy and you sound as if you had a tough start to bf. Well done you and however long your ds carries on for just savour every feed and congratulate yourself

bo- hello.
It may well be the end I'm afraid. My ds self-weaned at 1 and I was very upset about it. I would have loved to have carried on
If you want it to then try reducing formula and offering breast more but I'm afraid it may be too late
Enjoy the moments while you can
