Breastfeeding and periods - 7 months in, feels like PMT every month but no bleed - Why?

Subject says it all really. We are doing BLW and haven't really dropped feeds, about four hours in between and one to two night feeds. Every month I get a couple of days of gooeyness a la ovulation type and then am a grumpy cow for a week and sometimes get cramps but no bleed. This has been going on for four months now. Is it my periods coming back or something else?

hormones slowly coming back but not powerful enough to cause a bleed? Will be here soon I should think.
