I think thrush. SO painful, anything I can do tonight?

As title really, breasts have been painful for a week or so, lef5 is getting better, right worse. Finally occurred to me to google today and it’s pretty textbook thrush, although baby has no symptoms I can see.

Dreading next feed off that side, anything I can do?
I’ve had problems with oversupply & engorgement & blocked ducts.
Baby is 9 weeks.

This may be a little late but see your GP and make sure they give u the tablet for thrush treatment rather than cream! My thrush was not diagnosed for weeks, a GP gave me cream 'just incase it was thrush' (it was!) which did bugger all and I went through agony until local breastfeeding support midwife spotted it and telephoned GP to ensure they prescribed the tablet. I forget the name, if began with an F... not much help, sorry! But I'll try and find out and reply. Hope you've had some help with it by now tho. X

It was fluconazole

Oh, bless you @Lucinda15 I went to the doc, who gave me miconazole oral gel to apply after feeds and an antibiotic as she wasn’t sure it was thrush. This has done nothing & I picked up the antibs today as it was getting worse.
Interestingly a milk blister came up this afternoon. Couldn’t bear to rub or scratch it, so poked it with a needle. Just fed off that side & it seems to have shifted & so has the pain!
So I have no idea what’s going on, but I feel a lot better, was crying with pain earlier today.

Oh god that sounds horrific, u poor woman!! I really hope things improve now I've dealt with the blister, ouch!!

I will say, if symptoms don't get better do go back to the GP and request the fluconazole. My thrush was not obvious to the eye. I had a whole host of shockingly painful symptoms (cracked nipples etc, burning internal pain when feeding, pain in the boob in between feeds, etc, all related to an undiagnosed tongue tie) and I don't think anyone realises thrush was a huge contributing factor. God bless the lovely breastfeeding support - she spent some time with me and was so confused about how much pain I was in. She rang back later that evening and said after she put some thought to the matter she recommended the fluconazole and it really helped. It just wasn't obvious to anyone that I had thrush. And I HAD previously tried the creams and it didn't really help so I thought it can't have been thrush. But the tablet worked and I don't think any harm in taking it if there is no other explanation for the pain. Cover all bases! Good luck.
