9mo EBF arching back, crying, not eating, and dry nappies

Hi, I'm getting really worried about my 9mo DS. A little background... He is EBF and has never taken to weaning, we have had repeated problems with constipation and he has been on laxatives for the last two months. On a good day he may eat a pot of yogurt, a little fruit purée and a slice of banana. Although he often goes days without eating or eating takes hours and is accompanied by crying. He is a healthy weight and has continued to follow his growth curve. I don't understand why he is constipated when he eats so little?

On Thursday morning I woke up feeling very unwell and started vomiting. I'm not sure if it was a bit of food poisoning, but I'm better now. I think my milk supply has been affected as on Thursday and Friday he didn't seem to feed very well. This morning his nappy was completely empty, even though I had tried to feed him every 4 hours. He arches his back when trying to breast feed and pulls off crying. Maybe it wasn't food poisoning and I have passed something onto him? We've booked an emergency appointment later this morning.

Any ideas?

Do keep a food diary. There is some school of thought that some food are harder to digest so should be introduced a little later.

Thank you. He's managed a few little sips of water, but I'm still worried. I'll talk to the Dr today about food intolerance, I've been told over and over again that I just need to keep persevering, but three months on there's been no improvement. I spend a long time each day buying, preparing, attempting to feed and clearing up food - generally feeling disappointed. Poor little thing :-(

If he hasn't taken to weaning And is getting xo stipated I would strongly suspect an intolerance to something. Mine both did this and their issues were dairy and soya.they also reacted to tomatoes, citrus fruits and green veg until past12 months.

But I would also suspect he has your bug. Will he drink water?
