My DS is 6 weeks old and we are using Dr Browns bottles with Level 1 teats. I think they are too slow as hes taking ages to feed. I tried him on Level 2 and he hoovered the bottle. He didn't choke, was a bit more drobbly than usual but then projectile vomited! I have heard of variflow teats- not sure if these would help? I know Dr Brown doesn't do them-Is there teat by another brand that would fit Dr Brown bottles? Any other suggestions?

In days of olde (the 70s), women did as wiggles suggests and made more holes with a pin.

Can you make the existing hole a bit bigger with a needle. I did this with dd until she was ready to move up. I have used Tommee Tippee variflow teats this time and they've been very good but I don't know if they would fit Dr Brown bottles.

Thanks are they defintely slower than Dr Browns.? I don't really understand how variflow work. Just had a terrible feed with DS , he was starving, gulping like there was tommorrow so I had to keep taking the bottle out and he would then scream. I don't want to go back to the slower teats, surely there is a solution!

Hi there - I got the Boots own wide neck variflow and they seem to fit Dr Brown's bottles fine.

BUT some are better than others, I've a feeling Boots might be cutting costs - DS gets on a lot better with the ones are made out of the softer silicone like the DrB own teats (from the outside of the packet, look out for whether they have a slightly "squarer" teat end, I think they may also have come in a little box rather than a vacuum pack but I'll be honest I wasn't paying attention when I ripped them from their pack undid them). The others are harder and have a rounder tip.

So, I'm on the look out for more soft silicone variflow teats that fit DrBs and will watch this thread with interest!
