Infant feeding

DD (15months) won't come off bottle.

My DD stopped BF at 10months and happily took formula milk, then happily transferred to cow's milk at a year. We have recently tried to get her to take her milk from a beaker and she is refusing. She drinks water and juice from a beaker with no problem. I know that toddlers can become fussy and she does eat a healthy diet but this has been going on for about 3 weeks now. Any tricks?

I wouldn't worry too much. Ds is 17 months and still has a bottle in the evening and if on occasions he wakes in the night

My DS1 would not accept his milk from a beaker, with DD I had switched at 12 months but he wasn't having any of it.

I discussed with HV and she said to continue with morning and evening milk in bottle until 18 months (brush teeth after though) (no need for lunchtime milk after 12 months) - she thought after 18 months I could just stop and he didn't need milk then provided he had balanced diet.

Anyway I stopped bottle at 18 months and after a couple of weeks I offered the beaker of milk with dinner and breakfast and he happily drunk it.

I agree at 12 months no need to withdraw bottle if she won't give it up...

Agree just leave her be. If it's a wake up/go to bed thing not a problem. If you are really, really worried get her an any way up cup. Still sucking so what's the difference. Lovely way for her to get her milk and have a bit of comfort. If they are ever poorly, you are so happy a bottle makes them feel better you don't care!

DS was about 2 1/2 when he stopped bottles (by then he was only having one in the evening). Don't worry about it. One night all of our bottles broke and he just used a cup.

I'd just keep feeding her from a bottle tbh. If she were still bf, which would be utterly reasonable at 15 mo, she would still be getting her milk through the same route as she did when she was newborn. Babies of this age still have a need to suck. I have never understood the British rush to get them onto sippy cups myself. French babies often have them until 3. At 3 they start to want to move on from baby things, which makes moving on so much easier.
