I agree with roisin too, all children would benefit form those programmes, it's just that there are only provisions for those in the most need for it to take them.

Look at it this way, it won't do your DD any harm to have some extra help with social skills will it?

She sounds very sweet and very capable of making friends- bringing toys in is an excellent strategy so well done her resourcefulness! My DS was also at a tiny (state) primary. Lovely school, but only 3 boys in his year. Although people often think small class sizes are good, actually they can be a real problem. Since private schools often pride themselves on small class sizes too, it would be worth making sure you aren't going to encounter the same problem if you choose to go down that route. DS is now in his first year at high school and it is fab the amount of friends he has because there are just so many to choose from! He has really blossomed. Good luck.

I have to say I am feeling very lucky where DD's school is concerned so I could understand that!
We live very close to the Uni BTW, maybe we should try a meet-up in Markeaton Park. SueW will vouch for my lack of hairy truck-driverness.

The Boxall Profile is a checklist that teachers use, consisting of something like 34 statements and they rate the child on how well or not they fit each statement, it just helps them get a better understanding of the child and prvide for them better.

It was developed to help nurture children in school, and to support their emotional needs.

If you object to them doing the boxall profile with her, then you are beign very PFBish and very unreasonable too.

I'd suggest you make an appointment to speak to the SENCO, she will probably reassure you more than the head did and can talk you through the profile etc.

Orinoco, bloody hell, the school sounds terrible actually!

I would pull my kids out jut based on the absent-minded reception teacher! That is truly shocking.

on reading your other thread and having more info, I would agree with you.

That is quite shocking behaviour from a small school who should be able to communicate with the parents much beetter given their small size.
