Developmental problems

Hi

DS when he was first born seemed very good development wise, smiling very early, vocalising, head control. But he didnt roll until 6 months, sit up until nearly 9, and at 12 months is not crawling (I know not all babies do this), pulling himself up on stuff, cruising, clapping or waving. Is also very clingy and has been from 6 months, he's poorly atm but even when well, wants lots of cuddles.

I wondereed if I was delaying his development by picking him up so much but know I put him down on the floor a lot more so he has plenty of opportunity to move about if he wants.

Also for ages he has been crying every time he gets touched by people other than me and his dad so its impossible for us to leave him, even with family he sees regularly.

Bez - I would say (as I always do!) speak to the hv. My dd didn't sit up until she was 10 months and then crawled at 10 months and walked at 13 months. She does have a langauge problem though (unconnected to this). I wouldn't worry too much about cruising, clapping or waving or even pulling himself up. I am sure that if ds was 18 months then yes I would be worried slightly but at 12 months no. I would also say it is perfectly natural for him to be clingy to you at this age. It's called speration anxiety and both of my 2 had that. Children all do things in there own time and own pace .
