Our DD went through this phase as well and same as bodiddly, we shares the bath with her and she loved it!!! And still now at 2yrs old, she asks sometimes for us to jump in the bath... And I always say yes!!!

have you tried getting in with him? my ds went through a phase of this but felt more confident if he was sitting with me .. might be worth a try!

p.s. my daughter did this phase first when I was putting her on her back to wash her. She totally went off that idea!

my daughter has done the same several times, usually only lasting a week or so each time. I still persevre and bath her everynight, then all of a sudden she'll be fine again.

It's the same with all these 'tantrums phases' babys associate something with bath time or feeding time, and cry for no reason, then before you know it, after a bit of stress and arguments with your other half, suddenly back to normal!

My advice would be to stick with it, and it should go away after a while.

Sorry I just realised the age was 8months. hmmn tougher, DS younger hated the bath too. Would stand and not sit. Had to be fast, that helped (both us and him )

Sounds like either doesnt like the bath idea, or has had a bad experience.

a suggestion:

Start with "half a bath". Tell him you are only going to wash his legs. Force it, let him stand, make it quick and pull him out. Then say see that wasnt so bad. Then after a few quick ones, say you need to give him a full wash, but it will be quick. Make it quick. When it comes to washing the hair, I put a towel over the face (I don't mean suffocating ), to stop ware going on the eyes.

Now he moans about the whole idea, but does do it, as long as it is quick

It could be what has learnt from older brother.

Do they bath together?

Has he watched your older son playing in the bath, since he has been happier with it?

Does he cry when he is just sitting in water or is it when you are washing his hair/face, etc..

I only ask 'cos my DS did this a while ago and it turned out he had a raging ear infection. Just a thought!

thought i might just try sitting him in a bowl of water to see how he gets on.Do you think it could be that his older brother went through a stage of crying when he had a bath a cuople of months ago.we let him take some of his favourite toys in the bath and he's fine now.

Something must have spooked him, at some point.

Maybe he got water in his ears or eyes and its freaked him out.

As a distraction, my girls love it when i put a mirror where they can see themselves while in the bath.

Tub tints are god too.

I would stop the baths for a while. You don't have to give them one every day. Ds gets one a week if he's lucky.
