It does sound pretty nice with the surname which is three syllables beginning with M ending in -han....do you think it needs a really over the top pretty middle name to soften it at all?

and if so what???

It's better than the utterly horrible Kendra.

I don't mind it, and it is certainly more interesting than yet another Evie, Ellie or Kylie.

Does it sound good with your surname?

It's a popular name in the US.

Will spend his/her life explaining that it is spelled Kendall not Kendal

I know two Kendall/Kendals. Both have fathers called Ken . Which makes me think it's a bit of a made up name (I don't actually know if it is). It never gets shortened. It just reminds me of Ken Doll.

I dont really like it but even so would have thought this would be for a boy and not a girl. Its very masculine sounding.

Just saw the title of the thread (not which forum it was in ) and thought it was about the Lake District's Kendal.

That said I'm thinking mmmmmmmmm not bad. I think it would be a grower on me.

i think i'd rather go for Kendall than another Ruby, Isabella, Matilda or Evie....

I was joking about Kylie! On balance, Bucharest is right - not about shagging 4 year olds (well maybe that too) - but about Katherine/Kate being the only respectable K names.

I used to work with an American girl who was called Kendall. I hated it initially but it grew on me. She was however quite clever and kind but totally humourless, if that helps.

Kylie! oh... NO you couldn't. Maybe it sounds mainstream in Australia, but over here, it just sounds like your parents grew up watching neighbours &/or have really bubblegum taste in music (i like her music, but I don't advertise that)

Gah! Must be like shagging a 4 yr old.

But Kylie is gorgeous! (not). Blokes of a certain younger age will have her bum in mind..

Oh yes, Katherine is one of my favourite names....but take a moment and ponder Kaiden, Kenzie, Kobi, Kody, Keegan and Kloe (yes I have seen it spelled like that )

Absolutely dreadful.

i don't get the K thing either to be honest. I am thinking for a girl....minty is a fab NN and great to get it from something other than Araminta which i absolutely detest....my DH said Kendal mint cake too but i don't think that puts me off....

would be shortened to Ken of courser, but if you're happy with that?

Report
bellissima · 17/02/2010 08:16

Crossed with oops!

I do like mint cake thobut.
Whats wrong with the 'dreaded K'? Katherine/Kate lovely names.

Report
bellissima · 17/02/2010 08:14

I think of mint cake (minus an l).

Blokes of a certain age would think of Felicity's bum.

Incidently, is this for a girl or a boy?

I know a teenage Kendal - she is know as Minty, as in Kendal mint cake

Ticks all the wrong boxes for me I'm afraid, seems like a surname, taken from a place and slightly modified, begins with the dreaded K.

(and I heart Marmite!)
