No - it's one of those old lady names which should die off with that generation. No Euphemia was ever called that, it was always shortened to Effie. There was a reason for that...

'Twas my granny's name - she swore blind she would inflict grievous bodily harm on any of her children who gave the name to a grandchild, she hated it so much. Consequently, I find myself unable to like it.

We did spend an amusing afternoon trying to come up with new nicknames for her (she was known as Effie) - her favourite was Phuff......
