We live in England now but met and spent a lot of time in Wales and would quite like to give DC2 a Welsh name.

We both really like Bethan, but I'd love to hear ideas of any other Welsh names that aren't difficult for English people to pronounce! Mainly girls, we're pretty stuck on Dylan for a boy.

Is Imogen really a Welsh name? I'd be very surprised if it was (but happy to be proven wrong!)

I have two DD's named Tesni Angharad and Nia Haf. Tesni means the feeling of the first summer sun on your skin, meddai nhw!!! (allegedly). My DH chose Nia, and now we are on DD number 3 and have run out of ideas!!!

I hope the names we have already chosen helps you, I shall read on selfishly hoping to find the perfect name for our next!!

Happy searching!

Angharad. Lovely meaning (Beloved), and can also be shortened to Harri which is cute.

I love Eleri, Elin, Eira, Seren, Cariad (Cari for short),

My mate has just had a baby Mabli but I don't think I like that much.

Ooh, liking some of the suggestions! I'd forgotten Eirwen - I used to work with one and always thought it was a lovely name. And Arian is lovely - never heard that before.

I love Catrin, but DH thinks it sounds like Caitlin and therefore 'chav' (his words, not mine!)

Elin is lovely, my niece is Eleanor though, so could be too similar... and Olwen is gorgeous, but DD is Polly, and don't fancy 'Polly and Olly'!

I like Meredith, what would you shorten it to?

Ooh so many nice ones here that we had on our list and I forgot!

I have a good friend called Tanith, I'm not sure of meaning but it is lovely.

I think Seren is v popular in S Wales, tis lovely though.

Olwen is fab - DD's middle name ;) We almost made it her first name, as DH liked the idea of Oli as a nn and he also loves the meaning - Olwen was a beautiful maiden whose suitor was set impossible challenges by her father In fact, I now can't remember why we didn't use it!

I love Eleri. Forgot about that. Hi running!

Weirdly Lydia is in my book of Welsh names. Didn't know that one was Welsh!

I used to go to school with a Cerys too. That isn't too bad. Oh, and a Mari. My friend has an Elsbeth, but again I don't know if that is Welsh or not.
