Go on, what do you think. We can't agree on any boys names but keep coming back to this. Eli for short I guess. Views?

oh yay
I was getting very stressed about imminent baby being a boy and nameless forever. Elijah has been on our list but something i couldn't put my finger on, (maybe it being too jewish when i'm not?)was stopping me.
This thread has made up my mind I am officially happy to put Elijah at the top of my shortlist(vv shortlist). A girl stands a much better of being named in this house.

Eli is great as a nn too.

Thanks

Glad it helped trixie. Interestingly, one of the things that is maybe stopping us from using it is that we are Jewish and DH is convinced that DS would get bored of jokes about empty seats at passover (where Elijah is meant to sit). So either way, you can't win....

I adore it, but I am biased as my DS is Elijah - although he gets called Ligee or Slider by his sister

We had a mixed reaction when we announced it after his birth (his great grandad said we should have called him something "normal" like Raymond) but we both absolutely love it & it suits him to a T!

Go for it

I love it but DP ruled it out for us.

It's a lovely name (I like Eli too). BTW kid in Sleepless in Seatle was called Jonah!

Norma - we have 6 year old ds called Elijah, but we also liked Raymond, but my Dad said 'no way - you cant call a child that!', refering to Raymond! haha .

LOL tummy to this day DH's grandparents still refuse to call DS Elijah referring to him as 'The little fella' instead DS is now almost 10 months old!!

Told people we were going to call bump Elijah as a joke - but it's grown on me... and now on our shortlist!
