Does being called Piers confine the bearer to a life of pink shirts?

I quite like the name though.

I know a grown-up Piers who hates his name with a passion. He even claimed he couldn't find a job because of his name - and, strangely enough, he got a few job offers when he started spelling it Pearce.
No pink shirts, though.

I don't mind the name personally, don't love it either.

You learn something new every day. Didn't realise that Christian was a Piers equivalent type of name. That was my chosen name for a ds. Maybe just as well we only had girls...

Mind you, I do rather like pink shirts.

No, my ds has a Piers in his class.

oh dear - been to the pub for the first time in ages. I mean prob NOT for you but then realised that this is a pink shirt issue!

seriously cool one has not got a loaded dad as far as I know!!

Think it is OK but if you have to ask if it is too pretentious then it prob is for you.

The only Piers I knew was a pink wearing shirt kind of guy. He also liked other pastel colours. But if you're tall, blond and blue eyed it's a really great look. He was also a very in demand IT expert.

PMSL @ me trying to tell MIL that Piers is a lower middle class name! BIL is Piers and I think I've seen him in pale pink once, but he doesn't make a habit of it!

It's posh but not very nice. Sounds too much like Piss and Pierce.

a lower middle class name

Awfully pretentious name Piers, an lower middle class name - on the same radar as Miles but just doesn't have the likeability factor a Rufus or a Jasper will have.

It just makes me shudder. It sounds like the parents are trying really hard.

I agree with other posters that Piers falls into the same social segment as Tristram, Christian, Miles, Rupert, Crispin, Jasper, Rufus etc...

Don't even think about it if you don't have money for public school fees and a generous deposit for a first flat in SW-something .

I have a Miles and would have loved Piers, Rupert / Jasper / Rufus, but was not allowed. But i'm a bit snooty

I always think of a Piers as being an upper class sort of name. On the other hand, it makes me think of the seaside too.

i was just thinking of this name today. Dh would never go for it but i think it's rather nice. (DH does wear a lot of pink himself though.)

It was a silly joke where I worked sonniboo, there were a couple of Piers and they both seemed to wear a lot of pink. One can't tar all Piers with the same brush of course

Piers is a lovely, old, traditional name - I really like it and know a lovely 12 year old Piers.

I still don't get the pink connection....
