Baby names

Baby girl shortlist. Will she be Cecily, Livia or something else?!

Am still deliberating over baby names. I like masses of girls names but DH is really picky! Please help me to narrow it down with some opinions on my shortlist!
We are a multicultural family so have tried to choose names which are not too typically English.
DD Maia
DS Lucas

Cecily
Livia
Sylvie
Elodie
Celeste

Please let me know your likes/ dislikes, etc. Thank-u!

How about Leela or Leila. Really like Cecily though!

Yes, I know about St Cecilia being the patron st of music and that's something I like about the name but I prefer it as Cecily as it is a little more quaint/ unusual and seems to fit better with sib's names.
I'm not mad on Lilia- prefer Livia and Lydia tbh- thx anyway!

Instead of Livia what about Lilia? I like that but it doesn't go with baby's surname.
Cileste reminds me of one of the brands of contreceptive pill.
I quite like Sylvie.

You're probably right about Sylvie being 'on the up' although it's difficult to predict these things!
Both my children's names have become quite a bit more popular since we named them.
Anna Livia is actually a v nice name- i thought maybe they were your children's/ your names!

Looby, now this isn't statistics! it's anecdotal mostly, but my second cousin recently called his dd Sylvie "because their friend had a Sophie", I considered it myself 7 yrs ago, I've seen it on this board 20 times in the last month, I've seen it at least twice in The Times Births announcements, so yes, I think it's on the up.

No LoobyLu3, Anna Livia is supposed to be the 'embodiment' of the river liffey! A sort of mystical folklorish woman...

I am now embarrassed about HOW LITTLe I know about the screen name I chose.

I'm pleased that people are liking Livia as it is DH's favourite! Had a few neg comments nearer the start of the thread.

Thanks a lot Liffey! Are you not Anna or Livia then?
Do you really think Sylvie will be the next Sophie? It was v low down on the stats last year. I don't know little or older Sylvies here.

Really starting to like Livia after reading the history behind it.
The other one I like is Sylvie, although prefer Sylvia.

Love the first three on your list.

Cecily - lovely in full, hard to nn though
Livia - gorgeous, so gorgeous it is my screen name!
Sylvie - again, utterly gorgeous.

Livia may be confused with Olivia or Lydia, but I like those two names too. Sylvie gorgeous but on the way up. The new sophie possibly. Just something to bear in mind. Would you still love it AS much if it became VERy popular.

Elodie is confusing. LIke Melody but with a bit missing. Celeste is a bcp. Or a ship.

Thanks a lot all.
Joyful eyes- are there really lots of Cecily's about? I have never met any of any age so am quite surprised!

Livia is gorgeous.

I like Livia (I'm a fan of strong girls' names), Cecily is nice but there are a lot of them around. I don't care for the French names (Sylvie/Elodie/Celeste) they are too 'pretty little girlie' for my taste.

Elodie or Celeste.

I like all the girl's names apart from Livia.

DH seems to be considering Elodie at the moment which is great. Do you think it is okay to name your baby an obviously French name if no French connections? I know there are lots of Amelies and Freyas without French/ Nordic roots. I just want a bit of reassurance!

ooh I have a Kitty. It's a fabulous name!

Have asked DS wha name he likes for new sister and he has suggested Kitty (I think after a little girl at pre-school). I like Kitty actually but I don't think DH will. He has admitted that Elodie is pretty though!
